Description
We are looking for a Junior Data | Software Engineer to join our team and support the development and operation of scalable, data-driven software solutions. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to data pipelines, platform components, and core engineering initiatives. You will help ensure reliability, quality, and performance while strengthening your technical foundation in a collaborative and agile environment. This is a great opportunity to grow your engineering skills and actively contribute to the evolution of Experian Marketing Services data platforms.
Your key responsibilities
- Support the development of scalable data pipelines and platform components, following established frameworks, standards, and guidance from senior engineers.
- Apply software engineering best practices, including coding standards, version control, testing, and documentation, to deliver reliable and maintainable code.
- Assist in testing and release activities by executing test cases, validating changes, and following deployment procedures to ensure quality and stability.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and cross-functional teams in an agile environment to support feature development and delivery commitments.
- Contribute to operational activities by following monitoring practices, deployment standards, and incident protocols to maintain platform reliability.
- Continuously develop technical skills through hands-on work, mentorship, and feedback, increasing autonomy and contribution over time.
Qualifications
What we expect from you
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in software or data engineering environments.
- Foundational knowledge of software engineering concepts and coding best practices.
- Experience with SQL and basic data querying.
- Exposure to or willingness to learn big data technologies such as Scala, Spark, and distributed processing.
- Basic understanding of data processing concepts, including partitioning, parallel workloads, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to write testable code and support testing and documentation activities.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and team collaboration practices.
- Strong communication skills and a continuous learning mindset.
- Advanced English proficiency and availability to travel to São Carlos/SP when needed.
Nice to have
- Exposure to data transformation tools such as DBT.
- Familiarity with concurrent or parallel programming concepts.
- Experience with data migration tools or processes.
- Exposure to functional programming languages such as Scala.
- Interest in data platform architectures and large-scale data processing environments.
