Description
We are looking for an Engineering to lead and develop a distributed technical team, ensuring high‑quality software delivery aligned with Experian's global engineering standards and business strategy. In this role, you will drive team performance, foster cross‑region collaboration, support technical direction, and promote operational excellence while enabling a strong, engaged, and scalable engineering organization.
🛠️ Your key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a distributed technical team, providing people leadership, operational oversight, and alignment with Experian engineering standards to ensure consistent delivery performance and strong team engagement.
- Partner with Technical Leads and Product teams to define and execute technical and product direction, supporting roadmap planning, prioritization, and governance to meet business objectives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by evolving engineering processes, delivery practices, and quality standards, using metrics, retrospectives, and best practices.
- Motivate, coach, and develop team members through clear growth plans, continuous feedback, and skill‑building opportunities, enabling a sustainable, high‑performing team.
- Apply technical expertise to influence architectural direction, evaluate trade‑offs, and ensure the platform evolves securely, reliably, and at scale.
- Oversee operational budgets, monitoring expenses and supporting financial planning to ensure alignment with strategic and delivery goals.
- Support engineering excellence by guiding design discussions, ensuring alignment with architectural and security standards, and enabling strong collaboration with US‑based teams.
Qualifications
🎯 What we expect from you
- Experience in people leadership within technical teams.
- Hands‑on experience with Big Data environments.
- Ability to design and code using Scala and/or Java.
- Experience with Spark for large‑scale data processing.
- Knowledge of cloud ecosystems: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with orchestration technologies: Airflow or Azure Data Factory.
- Experience with cloud databases/data warehouses such as Snowflake, AWS Athena, or BigQuery.
- Knowledge of cloud compute services such as EKS, EC2, or Lambda/Serverless.
- Practical experience with Terraform or other infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
- Strong background in engineering processes, delivery practices, and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Ability to drive decision‑making, mentor engineers, and influence technical direction.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Advanced English and availability to work hybrid in São Carlos/SP.
⭐ Nice to have
- Experience with organizational scaling and distributed team leadership.
- Advanced knowledge of financial planning or budget ownership in technical areas.
- Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones.
- Strong background in platform reliability, security, or architecture governance.
