What You’ll Do

Modeling and Experimentation

• Design, train, and evaluate models using Python and established ML frameworks
• Explore large datasets in BigQuery and create well-structured feature sets
• Work with experimentation methods such as A/B testing, uplift modeling, or time-series validation
• Select appropriate algorithms and explain tradeoffs with clarity

Data Exploration and Feature Engineering

• Write advanced SQL in BigQuery for profiling, feature creation, and hypothesis testing
• Develop and manage feature pipelines in partnership with data engineers
• Document features, assumptions, and data logic so analysts and engineers can rely on your work

Productionization and Operationalization

• Collaborate with ML engineers or data engineers to integrate models into production workflows
• Use GCP tools such as Vertex AI Workbench or Cloud Storage for training data, models, and artifacts
• Participate in deployment planning, batch inference cycles, and performance monitoring
• Apply model validation, drift detection, and retraining processes

Cross-Functional Impact

• Partner with product, analytics, and engineering teams to define problem statements
• Communicate findings through clear visualizations, narratives, and presentations
• Mentor junior team members in modeling practices, experimentation design, and data science fundamentals
• Help refine best practices for feature management, documentation, and model evaluation

What You Bring

Technical Expertise

• Strong experience with Python and libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, JAX, or PyTorch
• Advanced SQL proficiency with comfort working inside BigQuery
• Experience using Vertex AI Workbench or other notebook environments on GCP
• Experience designing and evaluating ML models across structured datasets
• Understanding of feature engineering principles for both supervised and unsupervised methods
• Familiarity with model deployment patterns such as batch inference or endpoint-based prediction

Analytical Depth

• Experience designing experiments and interpreting results using sound statistical methods
• Strong ability to reason about data quality, sampling, leakage, and bias
• Clear approach to model selection and validation across varied business contexts

Professional Skills

• Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical partners
• Steady ownership of end-to-end model delivery
• Curiosity and initiative that drives thoughtful problem solving
• Advanced English proficiency (B2+)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Vertex AI model training, model registry, or Feature Store
• Familiarity with orchestration contexts such as Composer or Airflow
• Experience using BigQuery ML for rapid prototyping
• Understanding of modern ML Ops approaches
• Exposure to event-driven feature pipelines using Pub/Sub
