GIS Industry Solutions Specialist - Water
Overview
At Esri, our Industry Specialists are experienced GIS subject matter experts within specific industries. The water industry specialist will serve as a subject matter expert in understanding how GIS, mapping, and location analytics can transform and modernize organizations within the water resources, environmental, and/or architecture, engineering, and construction industry. In this role, you will establish a regular cadence for content (such as webinars, customer success stories, eBooks, social media, blogs, and more) that drives awareness, demand, and builds a strong community around GIS in water resources. In addition, you will actively network with industry influencers and practitioners to promote and position Esri's GIS technology as uniquely suited to solve existing and emerging industry challenges.
In close collaboration with the Water Industry Manager, the Industry Specialist contributes to the execution of a targeted marketing and engagement strategy to drive growth and adoption of Esri technology. This includes identifying key market opportunities and supporting the development of Esri's vision for the industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Water Industry Manager by working with marketing, sales, product, professional services, international distributors, education, and partner teams to deliver impactful campaign tactics
- Develop a steady stream of thought leadership and content (such as webinars, customer stories, white papers, blogs, social posts) that raises visibility and builds community
- Support industry-focused events including conferences, tradeshows, webinars, and user group meetings
- Foster the growth of the community on social media and through online collaboration spaces
- Create, manage, and execute marketing and engagement campaigns aligned to industry goals
- Track progress and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure success
- Provide insight into the competitive landscape and trends to support the Industry Manager, product teams, and business development
- Research and support strategic positioning of Esri technology, validated by customer and industry expert feedback
- Deepen GIS domain expertise and support internal stakeholders, partners, and customers through presentations, guidance, and collaboration
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working in water resources, hydraulic modeling, data analysis, engineering
- Knowledge of GIS and its application within the industry
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities
- Quick learner with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's in GIS, geography, engineering, or related field
Recommended Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and contemporary collaboration tools.
- Skilled in presenting to diverse audiences with confidence.
- Knowledgeable about online resources for hydrologic, hydrogeologic, and geologic data and documentation.
- Experienced in utilizing solutions such as ArcGIS, Arc Hydro, hydraulic modeling platforms, and digital twin technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to summarize technical information clearly and concisely, employing correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling for enhanced readability.
- Master's in GIS, geography, engineering, or related field

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$87,360 - $139,360 USD
