Job Summary
The Director, Operations Compliance is a strategic leader who directs the activities of a broad functional area and recommends implementing changes to methods. Leads, manages, develops, recruits team members, often across multiple regions. Manages financial activities such as detailed bottoms-up budget generation and ongoing forecasts for the compliance subjects assigned at a global/regional level. Assesses and owns relevant compliance processes to identify improvement opportunities for the business.
Responsibilities
Team Management
- Is a strategic leader who directs the activities of a broad functional area and recommends implementing changes to methods of a broad functional area through managers
- Leads, manages, recruits, develops compliance staff, often across multiple regions/countries for relevant/assigned compliance related subjects
- Overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, priorities, recommending and implementing changes to methods
Audits & Certifications
- Has sign-off authority on internal audit plans
- Decides overall audit strategy for the function assigned
- Signs-off criteria and controls for internal audit
- Provides strategic leadership guidance and consulting in any audit finding escalations within operations
- Manages overall certification portfolio for the subjects assigned
- Approves any new certification requests per input from relevant stakeholders
Management Systems
- Owns management system assets relevant to compliance subject assigned
- Provides final sign-off on updates to management system assets under scope
Program Management
- Own, manage and track overall budget for assigned scope of work
- Oversee compliance projects
- Analyze metrics to identify and recommend process improvements
Training
- Recommends training efforts relevant to compliance subjects managed.
- Foresees overall training program across the compliance footprint for subjects managed
1st Line Responsibilities
- Leads global projects relevant to compliance in conjunction with Global Ops Compliance or other functions within Equinix
- Provides subject matter guidance on overall strategy for compliance in Equinix
2nd Line Responsibilities
- Responsible for measuring and monitoring overall health of compliance programs
- Plans budget for required and requested training and other resources for Compliance team
- Oversees co-ordination of regional/global teams/staff
- Sets and tracks objectives for regional/global teams/staff
- Provides subject matter guidance and expertise on overall compliance strategy for the subject(s) assigned
Compliance Implementation/Consulting
- Is an escalation resource for high risk company level risks / compliance issues
- Explores the industry to identify best practices in compliance subjects and strategizes deployment of the same within Equinix at a global/regional level
- Participates in external compliance regulatory bodies and conferences as an active member of advisory boards
Qualifications
- Typically requires 15+ years of experience in relevant field of compliance preferred
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a related subject preferred
- QISBC or EHS certification preferred; qualified lead auditor/implementer in multiple standards preferred
