Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and versatile Senior Software Engineerwith a strong background in automation, and DevOps. In this role, you will design and implement scalable backend solutions, automate infrastructure and deployment workflows, and contribute to the integration of modern applications with legacy mainframe systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a developer with strong automation and DevOps skills, a passion for clean code, and a curiosity to explore the world of mainframes.
You'll work on modernization initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build data pipelines, develop APIs, and support hybrid cloud environments using tools like Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Ansible Automation Platform, and Jenkins. While deep mainframe experience is not required, a basic understanding of IBM z/OS and a strong willingness to learn are essential.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys solving complex integration challenges, and is eager to grow their expertise across both modern and legacy enterprise technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with mainframe engineers to understand and support z/OS systems.
- Assist in integrating mainframe systems into DevOps pipelines using tools like Git, Jenkins, and Ansible.
- Contribute to vendor software installation and customization within the mainframe ecosystem.
- Use scripting languages (Python, REXX, Shell) to automate workflows and integrate legacy systems with cloud-native environments.
- Implement automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application delivery.
- Leverage tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and Git for orchestration and system monitoring.
- Enable API-based integration using z/OS Connect EE, Rocket API, and RESTful services.
- Work with tools like Zowe, IBM ADFz, and VS Code to support modern development workflows.
- Collaborate with teams across storage, performance, capacity planning, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-such as storage, performance, capacity planning, security, and networking-to ensure seamless mainframe modernization.
- Collaborate with fellow Mainframe System Programmers on development initiatives to continuously enhance and modernize the z/OS infrastructure, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide digital transformation goals
- Mentor team members, promote knowledge sharing, and encourage innovative problem-solving approaches.
- Identify, propose, and implement system and process improvements to optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of the z/OS environment.

- Collaborate with internal teams to align infrastructure capabilities with evolving business needs and application requirements.
- Review, validate, and maintain comprehensive documentation for system software, including configuration details, usage instructions, test plans, and operational procedures.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, REXX, or PowerShell for automating workflows, system integration, and task orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, JSONand web-based scripting and other web-based scripting technologies to support full stack or API-driven development.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, IBM z/OS Connect EE, or Rocket API.
- Exposure to Zowe, IBM ADFz, and VS Code for mainframe development.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and Snowflake for data pipeline and analytics.
- Basic understanding of IBM z/OS systems and eagerness to learn mainframe concepts.
- Interest in enterprise infrastructure and eagerness to collaborate with mainframe teams to bridge modern and legacy systems.
- Ability to write clean, modular, and testable code, adhering to software engineering best practices and maintainability standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative and adaptable approach to working across diverse technical teams and platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant software development or automation.
- Proven record of delivering end-to-end Python automation or data engineering projects.
- Strong debugging, communication, and documentation skills.
