Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Warehouse Assistant.Eaton's Milton, Ontario site is Eaton's largest manufacturing facility in Canada. The hourly rate for this position is $22.78 - $25 per hour.
This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

The warehouse assistant will be responsible for working with all plant departments to drive better efficiencies in inventory and positively impact performance of the business in key metrics by yielding savings in materials costs, reducing cycle time, improving quality and delivery, and supporting deployment of lean activities. The incumbent will be responsible to maintain records of materials in inventory, monitor re-order points and reconcile discrepancies in inventories and escalate any concerns to production and materials teams.

In this function you will:
• Monitor and maintain current inventory levels; processes purchasing orders as required; tracks orders and investigates problems.
• Maintain records, perform physical count of inventory, and reconcile actual stock count.
• Process past due Purchase Orders (PO's) & investigate received but not delivered PO's.
• Communicate with third party logistics provider to ensure offsite inventory accuracy.
• Action aged jobs that require the completion of "Put away" operation.
• Track shortages daily and follow-up on root cause.
• Perform routine clerical duties, including data entry, and physical counts.
• Assist to train summer students, new employees, and agency workers in performing related work.
• Act as a back-up for duties for Warehouse Team lead & Warehouse Manager, as required.
• Support manufacturing plant, materials, logistics and purchasing in Supply Chain initiatives.
• Drive inventory reduction and inventory turn improvement projects through analytic programs.
• Analyze data, including materials requirements planning information to determine stocking policies.
• Setup and Maintain Accurate Item Master attributes for MLT organization
• Manage the Excess & Obsolete (E&O) process for Milton in dispositioning depreciated and slow-moving inventory.
• Manage with Quality's support - Non-Conforming components and the timely disposition of the material.
• Manage MRP and MPS exception messages.
• Coordinate, create and maintain forecast planning bills.
• Communicate with Order Management to Maintain a current master schedule to support customer orders and planning bills.
• Create and reschedule orders for material to support stocking policies and improvements.
• Analyze, prioritize and communicate shortages to production managers/supervisors and escalate expediting to ensure schedules are met.
• Utilize Kanban and bulk processes to ensure material availability and reduced cycle times, explore viability of other more effective material planning strategies.
• Work with the production staff to ensure Kanban and production Kanban pull sequences as well as bulk items are maintained according to production requirements.
• Submit cost reduction ideas through the "CHIP-IN" process.
• Support cost reduction projects and other improvement initiatives to achieve overall business objectives.
• Adopt Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Support other warehouse functions within the Milton facility.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Completed high school diploma.

• No relocation provided. Candidates must reside within 80km of Milton, ON to be considered.

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future.

• One year experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

• Strong computer skills in Microsoft office 365.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

• Experience driving a Reach truck or similar equipment.

• Education related to inventory management.

• Experience as a lead hand, team lead or supervisor.

Skills:

Position Criteria:
• Strong knowledge of Oracle or similar MRP platform with ability to quickly learn Oracle.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds on occasion.
• Strong problem-solving expertise with excellent time management capabilities.
• Sound knowledge of products and systems purchasing and accounting policies.
• Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills.
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills required.
• Ability to effectively train new employees on inventory-related tasks.
• WISPER, MRP II and Matrix are assets.
