The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

PRIMARY FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

Eaton Corporation has an opening for a Technical Proposal Team Leader within the Electrical Engineering Services & Systems (EESS) Division, supporting Strategic and Data Center Accounts. This role provides leadership for the development and execution of complex technical proposals and application solutions associated with Eaton's power distribution services.

The Technical Proposal Team Leader is responsible for leading and developing a Technical Application Support (TAS) team, including services inside sales and service application engineers, to ensure consistent, high quality technical and commercial support for strategic and data center opportunities. Acting as a strategic partner to sales and services leadership, this position drives solution design, pricing strategy, and proposal execution to meet customer requirements across multiple market segments.

The role collaborates closely with cross functional stakeholders, including sales, engineering, services operations, and supply chain, to deliver differentiated, and value driven engineering service offerings. Expected results include profitable growth within assigned strategic and data center accounts, improved proposal effectiveness and win rates, and the development of technical talent. Position includes travel up to 10%.

What you'll do:

In this position you will;

  • Provide leadership for technical proposal and bid package development supporting Strategic and Data Center Accounts, optimizing resource allocation across service application engineers and inside sales to meet business objectives.
  • Direct and develop a geographically dispersed Technical Application Support (TAS) team, providing coaching, performance feedback, and strategic guidance in product application, solution development, and pricing to achieve business and individual development objectives.
  • Ensure effective workload management and resource allocation across multiple office locations to support timely, high quality quotation activity within a national territory.
  • Provide leadership for marketing initiatives, front end process improvements, and segment specific execution strategies that improve proposal effectiveness and enhance the ease of doing business.
  • Establish and maintain a deep understanding of EESS Data Center services, customer requirements, and market expectations to inform solution development and proposal strategy.
  • Drive Brownfield Data Center growth initiatives by supporting value added engineering solutions that strengthen customer relationships and generate a sustainable orders pipeline.
  • Ensure effective handoff between proposal development and execution by providing guidance to SAO and TAS teams, including alignment on scope, execution strategy, cost structures, and customer expectations.
  • Lead team wide process improvement initiatives, including the development of standard work quotation guides and the implementation of digital tools to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Plan and co leads bi annual team workshops to support alignment, knowledge sharing, and professional development across the Technical Application Support organization.
  • Serve as the primary technical and commercial liaison with sales (NAS and EESS), channels, representatives, end users, subject matter experts, and District Operating Center team members to support engineering services sales growth objectives.
  • Develop differentiated, value added engineering service solutions beyond standard specifications to address complex customer requirements and support successful proposal delivery.
  • Act as a divisional liaison with other Eaton divisions, manufacturing plants, and external suppliers to identify integrated solutions in support of engineering services offerings.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders, providing structured feedback on pricing, product fit, and technical considerations to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide input to profit and strategic planning processes and prepares monthly operational reports summarizing key activities, performance drivers, and business impacts.
  • Conduct customer site visits as required to assess application requirements, address customer needs, and gather technical inputs for accurate and compliant proposal recommendations.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and actively participates in relevant industry organizations to maintain technical and market expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with Eaton safety policies and promotes a culture of safety across all team activities and locations. Provide coaching, strategic direction, and powerful feedback to direct reports and broader TAS organization, offering guidance in matters related to product application knowledge, solution development and pricing.
  • Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and minimum of 5 years progressive experience in one or more of the following areas: application engineering, proposal development, technical marketing, engineering, sales, strategic planning, operations, or product management OR minimum of 7 years experience in one or more of the following areas: application engineering, proposal development, technical marketing, engineering, sales, strategic planning, operations, or product management in lieu of a degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge in products, systems, and service solutions within the electrical services and power distribution industry.
  • Working knowledge of the end to end sales process, including customer channels to market and negotiation techniques, with the ability to coordinate division, customer, and functional resources to maximize growth opportunities.
  • Experience developing complex proposals for both private sector and government customers, with exposure across multiple Eaton end markets, including Data Center, Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, Utility, Institutional, and Government.
  • Familiarity with government proposal processes, including technical and pricing proposal requirements.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships, address concerns effectively, and resolve issues to support long term customer satisfaction.
  • Experience providing front line technical and commercial support to sales teams, including guidance on negotiations, project considerations, and commercial issues.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing complex engineering services proposals, including solution development, pricing strategy, labor pricing and the use of digital tools for configuration and pricing of products and services.

• Advanced understanding of competitor electrical, electronic, and mechanical products and service offerings within the power distribution marketplace.
• Knowledge and consistent application of safety practices and precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to represent company interests professionally, develop strong customer relationships, and deliver service excellence to ensure long-term customer satisfaction
