Sr Product Design Engineer
What you'll do:
Authority
Authority to approves design changes, BOMs and drawings, deviations to the product or process; stop operations when the materials, processes, or assemblies are incorrect
Job Summary
Provide direct support to product lines to ensure the products continue being manufactured without interruption with a primary focus on the customer needs. Will be also accountable for leading value engineering projects with cross-functional teams. This position will work closely with the Marketing department, Quality department, Production department, Materials and Sourcing departments, to manufacture the products in an organized and expedited fashion.
Job Responsibilities
1.Provides direct product support in analyzing and validating assembly activities and/or deviations
2.Supports design of products to address performance improvements; analyze and improve product design rules (assembly layout, material analysis and validation). Review material standards and determine new material options for cost reductions.
3.Reviews and updates of Drawings, Bills of Materials and Internal specifications through the ECN/ECR process.
4.Works with production department in the execution of cost reduction initiatives (Vitality).
5.Generates laboratory requests and analysis for Material/Electrical/Mechanical testing.
6.Works with Marketing to design and develop solutions to meet customer's need.
7.Coordinates with both Queretaro and global cross-functional staff. This will include interfacing with global design owners located at any ECPSD facility. Guide supporting production staff. When appropriate, review and authorize deviations.
8.Supports manufacturing and production testing and cooperate to investigate tooling, quality control, and production problems and recommend corrective action.
9.Supports local and global sourcing/purchasing to evaluate, recommend, and develop relationships with suppliers.
10.Establishs and maintain a collaborative working relationship with other areas.
11.Conducts design reviews as well as the Design and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA) sessions to identify project risks and develop response plans.#LI-DG2

Education level required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical (preferred), Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Experience and knowledge on Power systems equipment and operation is preferred
Years and area of experience required
- 3-5 years as a product or design engineer.
- Previous experience with electrical/electromechanical products is a must. Medium or low voltage preferred.
- Manufacturing background is a must. Electrical/electromechanical sector preferred.
Technical knowledge
- Experience with electrical power equipment and knowledge (selection, installation, operation, design and testing) of transformer components such as load break switches, tap changers, fuse holders and interrupters is preferred.
- Knowledge on IEC and ANSI standards related to electrical products to design quality products.
- Responsiveness
- Must have knowledge on quality, APQP & ISO systems; FMEA, PNCP, Capability Studies, ISO 9001.
- Must have Prolaunch knowledge
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, complimented with exceptional computer skills (English and Spanish language are mandatory)
- Technical Problem solving using any tool as of: 8D, FTA, Fishbone, core tools.
- GD&T knowledge and interpretation of blue prints or drawings and dimensional stack up analysis
- Design and Injection molding process (desirable)
- May supervise exempt personnel and/or non-exempt personnel.
- Knowledge on 6Sigma tools to product development process. DOE statistical analysis
