Sr PLS Engineer- Electro-Mechanical Systems
What you'll do:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform product line support on electro-mechanical systems as an extension to the technical center group accountable for product design, enhancements, and performance for Eaton's Industrial Circuit Breaker product lines with intelligent, embedded sensing and connected systems.
Primary focus is ensuring the electro-mechanical product portfolio is fully qualified to meet customer functional requirements and maintain third party certification and compliance with standards as part of the ongoing operations of a manufacturing plant.
Supports the troubleshooting and resolution of electromechanical performance and smart accessories test yield and quality issues. Collaborate with design engineers (mechanical and electronics) on performance enhancements to improve existing products, validating changes in design, manufacturing, and testing protocols. Collaborate with cost reductions (VA/VE) initiatives and address digital connectivity application issues.
The position interfaces with design center (mechanical and electronics), product line marketing, plant manufacturing teams, quality personnel, suppliers, and customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Understand product requirements, applications & governing standards (UL, CSA), test procedures, and circuit breaker technology & design intent. Support documentation development such as manufacturing instruction and visual aids to support the requirements.
B. Enhance electro-mechanical systems and smart devices. Identify areas of opportunities in the production line or finished products to make recommendations for improvement.
C. Ensure integration of embedded system work seamlessly to achieve the desired functionality and performance. Assist with resolution of manufacturing and or production issues relating to product function to maintain compliance with requirements, standards, and specifications.
D. Acts as a liaison between Technical Center Team and Feeders Plants in handling product performance non-conformances to identify root cause corrections.
E. Evaluate materials, processes and as needed initiates engineering change requests to correct, enhance, update, and improve engineering documentation to satisfy customers and manufacturers of the product.
F. Collaborate with design and product testing engineers to improve the reliability and performance of the systems, wiring, sensors, and embedded electronics.
G. Collaborate with quality to provide product improvements and feedback on customer complaints. Utilize statistical quality tools when required to analyze data to evaluate and improve designs.
H. Supports manufacturing to ensure efficient production methods and tools are used by operators effectively such as but not limited to, visual aids, rework instructions, testing to troubleshoot and training.
I. Supports new product or product extension launches as liaison to manufacturing facility. Actively participate and support on LEAN and EQMS initiatives
J. Comply with approved policies and processes and perform other administrative tasks as assigned. #LI-DG2
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Electronics, Robotics) from an accredited institution
- 3 years of experience working in electromechanical component or systems design.
- Bilingual with fluency in Spanish and English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Six-Sigma quality tools.
- General knowledge of product design for cost-effective manufacture, working knowledge of regulatory standards.
- Experience with engineering computer applications. Pro/Engineer, Solid Works, MATLAB or similar,
- Experience with C, C++, or Phyton programming
- Experience in using Digital Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other metrology equipment.
