Senior Test Engineer
Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Senior Test Engineer at our Grand Rapids, MI location! Producing electro-mechanical actuation components since 1963, our Grand Rapids facility has just under 200 employees. It's a leading supplier of secondary flight control systems and components for commercial and business aircraft OEMs.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83000 - $122000 a year.

What you'll do:
This position is for a Senior Test Engineer to lead new product test programs including development testing, qualification testing, test report generation, enforcing test standards, and project management of complex test equipment for electro-mechanical actuators. Eaton Grand Rapids products include motor controllers, motors, electrical boards, gears, ball screws, no-back mechanisms, clutches, brakes, housings, electronic enclosures, bearings, pins, screws, and other related components.
Job Responsibilities:
• Provide hands-on test leadership for new product development programs
• Design and develop new test equipment for verification of electro-mechanical actuator during development, qualification, and production phases.
• Write engineering documents including but not limited to test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Manage the design, build, and verification of test equipment through external suppliers.
• Develop test equipment requirements from customer and product requirements.
• Coordinate testing with outside test labs.
• Support technicians in test execution and test equipment development.
• Create and release engineering drawings and schematics.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair of test equipment.
• Perform hands-on testing as required
• Comply with Eaton's high expectations for a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or other Engineering field from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3 years of experience with new product development, sustaining, and/or test engineering
- Must reside within a 70 mile radius of Grand Rapids, MI. Active Duty military are exempt from the geographical requirement
- This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158
Preferred Criteria:
• Knowledge and experience with DO-160 or MIL-STD testing requirements.
• Experience writing test procedures and reports
• Project management experience
• Experience with testing electrical or hydraulic systems
Skills:
• Knowledge of Catia, ProE, or other 3D design tool
• Experience with RCCA
• Hands on experience with designing, troubleshooting, and/or building test setups or other systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent facilitation skills, project management skills, and drive for results
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and project schedules
• Good organizational skills both written and verbal
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from production associates to the leadership team
• Demonstrated experience in team environments
