Senior Quality Engineer

Eaton's Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure Division is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer in Santa Ana, CA.

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards for flow-down of customer requirements, engineering product key characteristics, and assurance of in-process, final test requirements, and shipping / receiving inspection processes.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $99,000 - $145,000 a year.

What you'll do:

  • Develop, communicate or train, and ensure adherence to quality standards, product specifications, work instructions and procedures across a multifunctional manufacturing organization
  • Lead cross-functional teams in deploying continuous improvement activities, remediation actions and root cause analysis through various quality tools and processes (A3, 8D, 5why, fishbone, etc)
  • Evaluate, communicate and rectify in-process rejections, obtain disposition and implement containment, corrective and preventative action to ensure product performance and specification attainment
  • Implement and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC), analysis, monitoring and reporting to maximize reliability and inspection efficiencies
  • Ensure daily internal quality processes and standards are met on a day-to-day basis.
  • Support external customer focused issue resolution as needed including supplier quality, customer quality management, report outs and other externally facing quality activities.
  • Manifest a quality culture in all activities through quality management system activities and regular audits including Eaton QMS implementation, ISO 9001 audits and related activities, and employee engagement events.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Must have bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics from an accredited institution
  • Minimum three (3) years QUALITY experience in Engineering or Science function
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates within a 50 miles radius of Santa Ana, CA. will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area.

  • Bachelor's degree in quality engineering, electrical engineering or mechatronics engineering
  • At leat five (5) years experience in Quality, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics function
  • Ability to make quick decisions and communicate them clearly
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing procedures, preferable from a Quality standpoint
  • Experience in a quality engineering function in a manufacturing organization with a focus on electrical or electronics products preferred
  • Experience in technical project and program management preferred
  • Experience in developing quality procedures and quality management systems preferred
  • Experience in technical writing with focus on electrical and mechanical engineering preferred
  • Experience in supplier quality management preferred

Skills:

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional meetings, such as Change Board, FMEA, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills
  • Procedure/SOP writing
  • Ability to use a variety of computer systems including Microsoft office and assigned technical software
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and multiple projects at once
  • Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team
  • Ability to read and understand forms, blueprints & schematics, including bills of material, ECN's, tolerances and special notation.
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings including electrical drawings, one line diagrams, power flow diagrams, mechanical blueprints and other electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds
  • Ability to be available for travel up to 10% if needed
