Within Eaton's Electrical portfolio, the Life Safety Division (LSD) plays a critical role in protecting people and buildings during emergency situations. The division is globally recognized for its expertise in emergency lighting, fire detection, alarm, notification, and mass notification systems, enabling safe evacuation and regulatory compliance in demanding commercial and institutional environments.

To support our continued growth, we are seeking a Senior Project Sales Engineer.

The role provides strategic commercial leadership for Eaton's project business, with end-to-end accountability for capturing, protecting, and maximizing value from Eaton-specified tenders throughout the execution phase. Acting as the senior commercial partner for major installers and general contractors, the position shapes execution-phase strategy, safeguards specification integrity, and drives competitive differentiation for Eaton's emergency lighting and fire systems portfolio in Northern Italy, with a strong focus on the Lombardy region.

Beyond tender execution, the Senior Project Sales Engineer influences market positioning and growth strategy, anticipates competitive risks, mobilizes cross-functional teams, and holds full commercial ownership, including pricing, coordination, and value optimization, ensuring Eaton's technical and commercial strengths deliver sustainable project success and long-term market leadership.

What you'll do:

  • Lead end-to-end commercial execution of project opportunities, from lead qualification, territory planning, and discovery through tender execution and conversion
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key execution-phase stakeholders, including installers, contractors, agents, and end users
  • Drive bid/no-bid decisions and manage pre-specified and non-specified projects, protecting and converting specifications in line with Eaton strategy
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams (Quotation Factory, Specification Engineering, Application Engineering, Engineering Back Office) to deliver spec-compliant, commercially viable solutions
  • Own pipeline, quoting, and commercial management, ensuring favorable RFQs, preferred panel builders, and value optimization across project outcomes
  • Expand market impact by identifying cross-selling opportunities, steering projects to relevant Eaton channels, conducting business reviews, and representing Eaton through industry events and professional networking

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma with relevant job-related training or hands-on experience, or a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Commercial and Institutional (C&I) building projects, with solid understanding of project environments and execution phases.
  • Prior experience in life safety solutions, such as Emergency Lighting and/or Fire Systems, within building projects is required.
  • Proven ability to work with and maintain strong relationships with major installers and contractors within the assigned region.

Skills:

  • Strategic, analytical, and results-driven professional with strong accountability, ethics, communication, stakeholder management, objection handling, and customer-focused problem-solving skills.
  • Digitally competent and commercially oriented, with experience using DIALux, AutoCAD (project review level), CPQ/quoting tools, Microsoft 365, CRM and PRM systems, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Adaptable, resilient self-starter with strong time management, learning agility, and professional use of LinkedIn Sales Navigator, social platforms, and online research tools.
