Eaton's Electrical Sector - America is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support it's Residential Wiring division. This role is located at our corporate facility in Moon Township, PA and offers a hybrid working schedule. Relocation assistance is available to candidates currently residing in the USA.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,250 - $126,500 a year.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the creative design and development of Residential circuit breakers. This position will contribute to the overall mechanical design of the product with involvement from project initiation thru manufacturing launch, plus ongoing developments, and support. Functional responsibility includes design, testing and certification of the components plus systems as well as product qualification for performance, reliability, DFMA, and cost optimization of the final product. This position will work closely with the Engineering Director/Manager, Program Manager, other Mechanical/Electrical/firmware Engineers, Product Line Marketing Manager, and Operations team members, Sourcing and Manufacturing personnel to develop the products in an organized and expedient fashion.

What you'll do:

  • Participate in new product development/introduction, innovation, idea creation and implementation.
  • Serve as the mechanical design owner, make engineering decisions based on product performance test results, inspection reports, tooling assessments, DFMA considerations, product cost metrics and team input.
  • Perform mechanical engineering, CAD solid modeling, design simulation, product specifications, BOM and ECO creation, systems development, product testing/results analysis and design validation.
  • Create and coordinate product performance test plans with internal and external labs.
    Participate in project management and engaging with multi-disciplined teams to achieve goals using ProLaunch and other project management tools.
    Participate in Voice of the Customer (VOC) product, market requirements research and competitive benchmarking.
  • Organize and coordinate work with team peers, extended internal team members and external developers.
  • Leverage Eaton business standard processes for product development assignments (i.e. design standards, ECO processes, product safety assessment, FMEA, BOM structure, manufactured product cost estimations, project timeline and milestone planning).
  • Maintain and upgrades existing products, participate in technical customer service support.
  • Conduct product certification activities acting as the Eaton representative- UL/CSA/
  • Ensure timely completion and accurate results delivered to project commitment dates.

Qualifications:

Basic (required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electromechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of experience in product development of electromechanical products/systems.
  • One (1) year of experience with solid modeling/design and the ability to develop 2D drawings and assembly documentation including design intent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of experience in engineering product development, specifically working with electro-mechanical systems & products.
  • Previous experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting engineering systems.
  • Experience working in a global business environment with remote teams to deliver the best results while leveraging very diverse experiences within the team
  • CAD/SolidWorks/CREO solid modeling experience and the ability to develop 2D drawings and assembly documentation including design intent.
  • Use of DFMEA, tolerance analysis, engineered material selection and product costing.
  • Experience with ENOVIA document control system and Design for Six Sigma
