Senior Embedded Controls Engineer

Eaton's Electrical Critical Power Systems (CPS) is facing a massive growth. We are now seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to extend our team in Vantaa. This position requires current residency in Finland.

As a Senior Embedded Controls Engineer, you will design, develop, and validate embedded control firmware for high-reliability UPS systems. You will collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable, and mission-critical solutions that meet demanding performance standards.

What you'll do:

• Develop firmware in C++ for real-time operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS), focusing on deterministic performance and safety compliance.
• Develop, debug and test advanced control algorithms for UPS power electronics (AC/DC, DC/DC conversion, inverter control, battery management, grid interaction).
• Design and optimize state machines for real-time control, fault handling, and protection in UPS systems.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to analyze and improve power system architecture, including analog/digital control circuitry and signal processing.
• Conduct hands-on testing and debugging in high-voltage lab environments, including Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and model-based design validation.
• Create and execute automated test plans for control algorithms and power electronics features.
• Apply modern software development practices (Git, Jira, CI/CD) and maintain high-quality documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers in power electronics controls and embedded development.
• Stay current with the latest trends in UPS technology, power conversion, and embedded control strategies.

• 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development for power electronics

• Expertise in control theory and power electronics (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC) including battery management.
• Strong experience in firmware design for UPS or high-reliability power systems.
• Proficiency in C++ and real-time embedded systems (e.g., FreeRTOS).
• Skilled in debugging state machines and control systems.
• Hands-on with HIL systems, model-based design (MATLAB/Simulink), and high-voltage testing.
• Solid knowledge of analog/digital control circuitry, signal processing, and safety standards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in global teams.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and fluent in English.
