Senior Design Engineer

Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer.

What you'll do:

Primary Function:
This position will be executed in engineering/technical; they will provide applications engineering for product line support - this includes, but is not limited to product development, engineering designs, providing direction to designers.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan to Maintain Production Schedule, delegate and prioritize engineering tasks to meet Profit Plan and OTP.
  • Translate incoming order information into bills-of-material and CAD drawings, including control schematics and wiring diagrams, understandable by engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing during new product introduction, assist and testers on technical issues.
  • Lead team meetings, delegate and maintain accountability of engineering groups to complete tasks.
  • Drive engineering continuous improvement actions to increase productivity and quality.
  • Analyze field problems that may require research into product and application history.
  • Coordinate with other Eaton plants on engineering strategies, forecast, and best practices.
  • Execute plan tasks and follow up on specific engineering activities to achieve goals.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with engineering personnel.
  • Recommend and implement changes in ENG procedures and methods that increase level and quality of the product
  • Increase Organization Capability by coaching and counseling Juarez engineering when applicable.

Qualifications:

Basic qualifications:
• Education: A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in design engineering, specifically within the relevant industry (e.g., electrical).
• Technical Skills (CAD/Design): High proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
• Soft skills: Strong communication, leadership and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Project management: Proven ability to manage project lifecycles, meet deadlines, and work within budgets.

Preferred:
• Experience with specific industry standards (e.g., UL, ISO, CSA, ETL).
• Mentorship & Leadership: Demonstrated history of mentoring junior engineers and leading technical peer reviews.
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM): Experience using PLM or PDM systems (like Windchill or Teamcenter) to manage complex data and revisions.

-Ensure that the personnel under your charge follow through the operational controls that apply to their areas of responsibility that may impact natural resources.
-Complete assigned EHS training as needed.
-Report any emergency you detect to EHS or your supervisor and follow their emergency response procedures.
