Senior Accountant - Project Accounting

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our EMEA team and take full ownership of financial project reporting across the Data Center and Power Distribution related business. In this role, you will safeguard the financial integrity of all active projects, lead month end project settlements, and ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition in line with internal policies and US GAAP.
You will work closely with Project Controlling, Project Support, Customer Order Management and Project Accounting related colleagues based in our Budapest BSC to secure a smooth financial flow from purchase order to final project settlement. This role also plays a key part in driving process improvements, supporting audits, and contributing to financial tracking and analysis across flow business operations.
What you'll do:
Project Settlement & Reconciliation
- Perform monthly settlement of all active projects.
- Ensure revenue and cost are recognized according to internal accounting policies, US GAAP, and project milestones.
- Ensure accurate posting of project costs, accruals, and revenue adjustments.
- Reconcile all project related P&L and balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate discrepancies and perform timely corrections.
- Monitor GR/IR flow, identify mismatches or aged items, and work cross functionally to resolve them
Financial Follow up & Process Development
- Support the Commercial Finance Manager with insightful financial analysis, cost tracking, and forecast alignment.
- Monitor and analyze flow business operations to ensure accurate revenue and cost reporting.
- Perform reconciliations between BW, SAP, and EPBCS each month.
- Drive improvements in project accounting processes and internal controls.
- Contribute to harmonization of practices across the Nordics.
- Support system upgrades and participate in UAT for project accounting and revenue recognition.
Audit Support
- Serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits related to project accounting.
- Prepare audit schedules, documentation, and reconciliations.
- Ensure adherence to internal control frameworks and financial policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience (project accounting, POC models), preferably in international or shared service environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and Strong SAP knowledge.
- Business fluency in English, other European language knowledge are also appreciated.
- Solution focused, structured, detail oriented, and meticulous personality.
- Able to work and interact in international environment with various cultures and stakeholder levels.
