Quality Technician - 1st Shift

Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Quality Technician - 1st Shift.

The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 per hour.

The shift hours are 8:00AM - 4:30PM.

What you'll do:

The primary focus of this role is: addressing and resolving supplier quality issues and non-conformances through timely response and appropriate actions, supporting quality and operations team members with problem solving, root cause analysis, corrective actions, disposition and control of nonconforming material.

In this function you will:
• Contact vendors to return nonconforming parts or materials. Generate necessary packing slips, L-orders, and shipping information to return material. Obtain VISTA return numbers for inter-unit nonconforming parts or materials. Generate DMR/CA documents to vendors utilizing the WISPER System. Follow-up to ensure that corrective actions are provided.
• Support the warranty team in managing the RMR (Return Material Request) process
• Review suspected nonconforming materials and product and e-NCMR information to assure: accuracy of information, determination of root causes, problem responsibility or source, and resolve incomplete or incorrect e-NCMR information prior to data reconciliation.
• Review other documented information including drawings, part lists, e-BOM's, computer reports, etc., perform dimensional reviews, inspections, and functional tests to verify nonconformance information.
• Utilize mechanical and electrical measurement devices, inspect incoming and made-in-house parts per specified procedures and requirements
• Electronically record measurements and part rejections and perform or support Supplier Assessments with the aid of WISPER documentation.

• Coordinate with design engineering and suppliers for resolution to any deviation from printed drawings and specifications
• Perform, manage, or support required supplier PPAP's (Production Part Approval Process) and First Article Inspection (FAI) as assigned.
• Perform (when required) all related Process Audits or Capability Studies, maintain electronic records of audits or studies.
• Controls all nonconforming parts or materials within areas of assigned responsibility and ensures recycling cages are secure.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Associates Degree completed or 3 years relevant manufacturing and technical experience.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic concepts and products.
• Previous experienced and interpretation of blueprint information for inspection purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Direct experience with Asheville products, fabricated parts, ATS, LVA, MVCA, or assemblies.
• ASQ/ Six Sigma Certification
• Previous experience in a quality or continuous improvement role
• Three years of experience with Asheville product testing, troubleshooting, or inspection.

Position Criteria:

• Ability to independently perform dimensional checks and functional tests on suspected nonconforming parts or materials utilizing calipers, micrometers, height gauges, hardness testers, fixtures, manufacturing aids, power tools, hand tools, and other devices and equipment.
• Strong computers skills. (Windows, Excel, Microsoft Office, AS400, WISPER, other applications)
• Demonstrated history of success working independently without direct supervision.
• Strong communications skills. Will act as a company quality representative with Suppliers.
• Strong problem-solving skills. Strong negotiation/conflict resolution skills with front-end, shop, and Vendors (including inter-unit.)
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated accomplishments working in a team environment and mentoring others.
