Product Line Engineering Manager - Ducting Systems and Components
Eaton's IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Product Line Engineering Manager - Ducting Systems and Components in Beltsville, MD. This is a hybrid position with relocation assistance provided to eligible candidates.
This experienced engineering manager role is responsible for effective leadership, administration, and professional direction of a site engineering team. This individual will be responsible for short and long-range product development and to improve reliability, performance, and cost for existing product lines through sound execution of engineering principles and processes. The position also coordinates support to and from division and group engineering beyond the immediate site. Accountabilities under this individual's direction are all phases of product development including Proposals, New Product Development, and Post Product Development field and production support. Provides leadership and technical guidance for the development of Military and Commercial, ducting systems as well as associated components including joints, couplings and other system accessories.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $149000 - $219000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

A. Leads an engineering department to deliver high quality technical deliverables on time. Develops and maintains a culture of accountability. Provides technical advice and guidance to this team. B. Utilizes Eaton Business Systems (EBS) tools and processes to drive predictive performance on ducting system product and technology development activities. Develops and implements industry best practice processes and tools for engineering tasks. Monitors to assure adherence to defined processes. Develops organizational capability/capacity and engineering/technical skills among staff to support the product teams and division strategies and initiatives. Maintains appropriate training programs to assure continuous learning.
C. Leads execution of robust PROLaunch design processes and continuous improvement/design efficiency initiatives (i.e. DFSS/DFR) across the ducting systems engineering and technology function. Develops practices for documented technical standards around best practices and using lessons learned.
D. Drives continuous improvement of resource management, productivity, and first-pass quality of engineered products and deliverables. Use of tools including Design for Six Sigma to achieve that end. Identify key engineering metrics, monitor performance and implement improvements accordingly
E. Operates as a key member of the Engine Solutions & Electrification (ESE) Engineering Leadership team. Ensure that potential synergies between the site and other divisional, group, and global engineering sites are identified. Leads development and execution of strategic planning initiatives, allocation of engineering resources, and technology roadmaps across the ducting systems engineering and technology function.
F. Develops and fosters close professional relationships with customers and industry partners for developing new product requirements, major modifications of existing products, prototype qualification test requirements, and to resolve product performance deficiencies.
G. Leads profit planning efforts across the ducting systems engineering and technology function and manages the activity center budgets throughout the period of performance. Responsible for planning and execution to budget and resource plans for the site and the division.
H. Operates as a key member of the Beltsville Leadership including participation in the Site Leadership Team meetings and initiatives. Leads the close liaison with the operating organization to ensure high-quality product integrity and year-over-year manufacturing cost reductions.
I. Drives internal/external innovation activities across the product line engineering and technology function, including IP management.

• Enable and leverage additional engineering support resources in EIIC and Batam including development of strategy, offload of work and prioritization of resources across the portfolio
• Primary interface to external customers including mitigation and resolution of customer issues
• Internal customer satisfaction among functional and product engineering teams
• Risk reduction and problem-solving contributions to design, development, support, and service
• Specification compliance and adherence to Eaton design standards and industry best practices
• Works with office of Chief Engineers both within & cross organizations
Program Budget:
• Execution of identified projects within Gross & Net annual program budgets - Hours and MODC.
• Capital Spending to plan (annual and total) to support New Product Launch from R&T or Core product development
• Achievement of Annual Product Cost-Out targets (Material and Factory)
Program Execution Metrics:
• On-Time Delivery of project deliverables and milestones
• On-Time Delivery of TRL, MRL, and CRL maturity to plan
• First Pass Yield of project deliverables
• Successful launch of new products from PreLaunch into ProLaunch FPY through Gate 0 after achieving xRL maturity
Technology:
• CTQ compliance (PDSC)

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering and or new product development in a manufacturing environment
• A minimum of 5 years in a direct Manager of People position
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in engineering and/or business management is desirable from an accredited institution.
• 15+ years of engineering experience with progressing career responsibilities in an aerospace manufacturing environment
• Experience with aircraft ducting (high and low pressure) systems
• Six Sigma for Design and Development (SSDD) or Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) certification is a plus and desirable
