Product Engineer
Eaton's Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Product Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MI facility.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $68000 - $99000 a year.

What you'll do:
Position Overview:
This position shall prepare design concepts, complex packaging layouts, and visual aids for new product hydraulic conveyance hose, tube & fitting products and assemblies. Drives design innovation on new product development using appropriate tools and techniques for the Aerospace market. The role requires technical knowledge for execution of design activities to create and develop designs utilizing input from product, manufacturing, and customer engineers using appropriate tools, techniques, and creativity. In a supporting role to the project lead, this position may act as direct interface with customers regarding product design on new product development projects. Develop, design and modify products to the defined requirements including analysis to assure compliance to customer and industry requirements. Performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products/processes/techniques associated with aerospace conveyance products.. This role will also support the development of bill of materials and non-recurring engineering (NRE) cost estimates to execute design work for new project bids and proposals.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Keeps informed of state-of-the-art technology in design tools and techniques, develops new products and processes and improves existing products. Supports the implementation of design changes to improve quality, performance, cost reduction, and standardization through analysis of designs and problem solving techniques using CAD software and data exchange system.
• Performs and manages CAD activities, CAD database, document numbering system, drawing files, change management files, and customer and supplier files within the Product Data Management system. Completes designs following change management procedure. Creates and utilizes tools related to change management process.
• Prepares and implements design changes to improve quality, performance, cost reduction, and standardization of the product. Becomes familiar with design, development, and failure analysis through collaboration on DFMEAs, customer returns, and specific development projects. Complies with requirements of the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
• Increases depth of knowledge in fundamental engineering practices by working under the direction and guidance of others. Supports presentations to internal and external customers on programs or products as required. Provides technical support that may include analysis, developing recommended corrective actions, and providing necessary reports in areas of expertise. Acts as a technical resource to internal and external customers.
• Understands and applies GD&T expertise principals to detail drawings. Utilizes advanced geometric tolerance and statistical analysis tools and techniques.
• Utilizes the understanding of manufacturing processes to improve new and existing designs. Acts as a technical resource for internal and external customers. Responds indirectly to customer inquiry regarding product function and design.

• Lead changes on existent design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documents and data control.
• Designs and develops products/prototype hardware capable of meeting customer requirements and industry standards using existing, modified, and/or new designs. Directs and supports other global design resources for timely completion of project objectives.
• Support internal, supplier, and customer design reviews as well as evaluation of design trade-offs.
• Actively learns the engineering methodologies within the division and becomes familiar with other departments and their relationship to engineering. Develop constructive relationships with cross functional internal teams and customers to efficiently execute programs according to agreed upon schedules.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in engineering required.
- Experience with Mechanical products/Mechanical aptitude, knowledge of product design and equipment.
- Minimum of three (3) months of experience in engineering or manufacturing
- CAD experience is required
- Based on government requirements for the program this role will be supporting, applicants must be a US Citizen for consideration (no dual citizenship).
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Jackson, MI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering and/or business management is desirable
- CATIA V5 experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand Drawings, Specifications, and Requirements.
- Proficiency in application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5-2009 or newer.
- Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance stack-up, Failure Mode and Effect analysis (FMEA), etc.
- Proficiency in Product Data Management systems for document control and workflow management (ENOVIA is a plus).
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and switch focus efficiently.
- Ability to compose clear and concise written communication.
- Expertise in Catia V5 including surface modeling.
- Experience in FEA methods and tools.
- Experience with product design for additive manufacturing and additive support structures.
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt certified.
- Knowledge of fluid conveyance related products, especially hydraulic hoses, tubes & fittings, as well as manufacturing techniques and materials.
