Power Systems Consultant - Emerging Technologies

Due to growth, we are looking for a power systems consultant to be responsible for positioning Eaton as a trusted technical advisor in the evolution of next-generation data centre power architectures, including Medium Voltage Solid State Transformers (MVSST), HVDC distribution, and advanced energy systems.

This role focuses on early engagement with consultants, developers, and key customers to educate the market, shape design philosophies, and influence adoption of emerging technologies. Internally, the role assesses the implications of new power system architectures on Eaton's portfolio, enabling proactive strategy development and capability alignment.

Key Duties:

  • Act as subject matter expert in emerging data centre power technologies including HVDC architectures, MVSST, solid-state power conversion, and hybrid AC/DC systems.
  • Interpret how these technologies influence Eaton's product strategy, solutions, and go-to-market approach.
  • Engage early with consultants, specifiers, and end users to shape technical requirements and design standards.
  • Deliver technical education sessions (e.g., lunch-and-learns, workshops, seminars) on emerging power system architectures.
  • Develop white papers, technical insights, and industry content to position Eaton as a leader in next-generation data centre power solutions.
  • Build relationships with key industry stakeholders, including developers, hyperscalers, and engineering consultants.
  • Support pre-sales engagement by advising on future-state architecture and conceptual system designs.
  • Identify customer needs, pain points, and future technology requirements.
  • Translate emerging technology trends into actionable insights for Product Management, Engineering, and Sales teams.
  • Identify capability gaps and support development of Eaton offerings aligned to future data centre requirements.
  • Collaborate with global R&D teams to leverage innovation and align ANZ strategy.
  • Provide technical input into complex opportunities and strategic bids where emerging technologies are relevant.
  • Provide guidance on applicability, scalability, and integration into real-world data centre projects.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with advanced power system modelling, grid integration, or power electronics technologies.
  • Exposure to emerging architectures such as HVDC, BESS integration, or solid-state systems.
  • Knowledge of HVDC systems, energy storage integration, and next-generation distribution architectures.
  • Familiarity with data center design standards and performance expectations.
  • Strong communication and ability to translate complex technical topics into market-relevant insights.
  • High level of influence and credibility with external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Master's preferred).
