Power Electronics Lead Engineer
What you'll do:
This role is withn Eaton Research Labs. The succesful candidate has the principal goal of identifying, developing, and justifying commercialization of significant growth opportunities for diverse Eaton businesses in the area of power electronics, power converters, power systems, electric drives, electromagnetics, numerical modeling and controls
Create innovative power conversion and control product concepts/prototypes based on advanced technologies for electrical, industrial, automotive, truck, and aerospace applications, as a technical lead and as a team member.
Lead hardware and magnetics design & testing for medium-voltage solid-state transformer projects.
Collaborate with Eaton's product and engineering divisions to support technology development and successful transfer.
Assist in project planning, including budgeting, resource management, and meeting project goals within schedule and budget.
Coordinate and managediverse distributed teams engaged in multi-disciplinary research and product development.
Contribute to building business relationships by sharing technical ideas and projects, participating in ideation events, and helping acquire resources and funding.
Participate in external innovation activities with universities and research institutes.
Actively contributes to IP generation through authoring or co-authoring disclosures and patents
Provide mentorship to junior staff and consult with internal engineering and business teams.
Qualifications:
- Master's in engineering, Ph.D. highly preferred
- Master's with 5+ years experiences, Ph.D. with 0-3 years experiences
- Broad understanding of power electronics technologies and its application in power conversion areas
- Extensive experiences with magnetics in power electronics like high frequency transformer, high frequency inductor, CT, hall sensor.
- Experience with power semiconductor devices, gate drive technologies, thermal management, AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC power converter topologies, design and control strategies.
- Experience with high-power power electronics system hardware design, development, and verification
- Experience with control algorithm implementation and verification in embedded platforms
- Experiences with EMI/EMC analysis and filter design
- Experiences with Batteries and battery management systems
- Fluent English communication, team work capability
