Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Panelboard Engineering Supervisor. This role provides hands on technical and supervisory leadership for panelboard and busbar power distribution system designs that support customer orders, manufacturing execution, and standardized product strategies. This is a Full-Time role working onsite (M-F Daylight) at our Sumter, SC location.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

The Panelboard Engineering Supervisor applies deep engineering expertise to resolve design, configuration, and system related issues while driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, reliability, cost efficiency, safety and manufacturability. This position ensures accurate documentation, effective use of Eaton engineering and business systems, and seamless integration of standardized products into production through close collaboration with manufacturing, supply chain, and field service teams. In addition, the role leads training and development efforts, supports customer specific applications, and provides day to day technical direction to both direct and indirect engineering resources across multiple locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Drive achievement of business and operational objectives by leading engineering initiatives that improve quality, delivery, cost, and standardization across the panelboard product line.
B. Lead and sustain continuous improvement efforts across engineering and manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce cycle time, and improve manufacturability of panelboard designs.
C. Serve as a technical leader and people leader, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance guidance to build a high performing engineering team and support employee development.
D. Monitor and analyze product warranty, service, and field performance data; conduct root cause analyses of systemic issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
E. Establish, own, and continuously improve Center of Excellence (COE) engineering processes, including change management, design deviations, documentation standards, training materials, and engineering design guides.
F. Provide technical product support to manufacturing, vendors, customers, and sales, ensuring accurate application of panelboard and busbar designs for both standard and customer specific solutions.
G. Manage and coordinate technical communications with Product Line Engineering, Bid Manager teams, IT, and Product Management to ensure alignment on standards, tools, and system requirements.
H. Own accountability for the accuracy and integrity of engineering Bills of Material (BOMs) and Manufacturing Instructions (MI) for panelboard orders, supporting seamless production execution.
I. Collaborate cross functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and field service teams to resolve factory and field issues efficiently, minimizing disruption and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • Five (5)+ years of experience working with power distribution equipment (Panelboards, Switchboards, etc.)
  • Two (2)+ years of experience as a leader of people or projects
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • No relocation benefit is being offer for this position. Only candidates currently residing within a 50 mile radius of Sumter, SC will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Custom Order Engineering experience
  • Minimum of five (3) years of experience with power distribution equipment
  • Preferred knowledge of the following:
    o Design for Six Sigma with examples of practical application
    o Product Life-cycle management systems and their structure
    o Fabrication methods for sheetmetal, plastic, copper, and aluminum
    o UL 50, UL 67, ANSI and NEMA standards
    o Panelboard experience
    o BidManager, Mapics S/A S400, VISTA, OMS & Design Automation experience

Additional Information:

• Serve as a technical liaison for manufacturing teams, providing expert guidance and troubleshooting support to ensure product integrity and operational excellence.
• Mentor and train engineers, drafters, and technicians on design methodologies, tools, and best practices to build technical capability within the team.
• Champion quality improvements by implementing corrective actions and preventive measures within the scope of engineering responsibility.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team, leveraging data and metrics to identify and implement process enhancements.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate across cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Apply structured problem-solving techniques to address complex challenges, delivering effective and sustainable solutions.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of electrical assembly applications and manufacturing requirements, ensuring robust and manufacturable designs.
• Exhibit leadership in a performance-driven environment, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and results.
