Eaton's Electrical Sector Americas is strengthening its Systems Engineering and Model-Based Engineering (MBE) discipline to support the evolution of next-generation DC datacenter architectures. As facilities shift toward converter-dominated, software-defined and highly integrated multi-domain systems (electrical, controls, thermal, mechanical, operational, etc), a robust system-level architecture and requirements backbone becomes essential.
The Model-Based Systems Chief Architect will lead the definition, decomposition, and governance of System-of-Systems (SoS) requirements and architectures for DC distribution systems. This role ensures strong end-to-end traceability from customer VOC through system requirements, architectural structures, system models, and verification strategies. The Chief Architect collaborates closely with Systems Architects, Applications Engineering, Product Engineering, Model-Based Engineering (ES-A), and Power Systems Modeling teams to maintain an integrated systems-engineering workflow across program phases.
What you'll do:
Systems-of-Systems Requirements & Traceability
- Lead SoS requirement definition and decomposition for DC datacenter architectures, spanning electrical, thermal, mechanical, control, and operational domains.
- Translate customer VOC into structured engineering requirements, functional behaviors, constraints, and use cases.
- Maintain rigorous requirement traceability across architecture elements, system analyses, and verification artifacts.
- Ensure appropriate requirement allocation across subsystem teams (power electronics, software, FW, controls, mechanical, thermal, protection)
Architecture Development & MBSE Leadership
- Define scalable, modular, and reusable architectures for DC datacenter systems using SysML or equivalent system-level modeling languages.
- Lead MBSE workflows including functional architecture, behavioral modeling, interfaces, state-based behavior, and system interactions across multi-domain architectures.
- Maintain a consistent digital thread linking requirements → architecture → system models → verification assets.
- Coordinate with Model-Based Engineering (ES-A) and system modeling teams to ensure alignment between architecture definitions and analysis models.
