Eaton's IS AER ITD division is currently seeking a Lead Manufacturing Projects Engineer.

What you'll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for Operations Tasks (ME) for new product launches and transitions following the Eaton PROLaunch (NPD and STP) Process and manufacturing process capability deployment in the Tijuana, Mexico site. Lead manufacturing activities such as process development, creation of standard work documentation, tooling, fixturing and equipment selection in alignment with Aerospace quality standards (AS9100), Customer and Eaton internal requirements.

Lead the Transfer of Manufacturing Technology, Processes and Tools from Incumbent Manufacturing Sites (IMS) to Target Manufacturing Sites (TMS). Ensure that ongoing production processes are robust and sustainable to meet Quality and Delivery Requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for Operations Tasks (ME) for new product launches and transitions following the Eaton PROLaunch (NPD and STP) Process and manufacturing process capability deployment of the Tijuana, Mexico site.
• Lead manufacturing activities such as process development, creation of standard work documentation, tooling, fixturing and equipment selection in alignment with Aerospace quality standards (AS9100), Customer and Eaton internal requirements
• Lead the Transfer of Manufacturing Technology, Processes and Tools from Incumbent Manufacturing Sites (IMS) to Target Manufacturing Sites (TMS)
• Ensure that ongoing production processes are robust and sustainable to meet Quality and Delivery Requirements

• Provide technical leadership for IMS/TMS Transitions including:
o Feasibility Reviews of manufacturing capacity and capability of target sites
o Technical assessment of existing manufacturing tools and processes for part manufacturability at sending and receiving sites, prior to moving parts
o Support target site in the development of robust processes and manufacturing process specifications required for quality assurance
o Training and development of personnel at new manufacturing locations
o On time support of program gates and deliverables led by project managers
o Lead Design for Manufacturing activities with the Product Engineering leader
o Support costing of potential programs by drafting processes, estimating capital investment as well as labor content of the product

• Oversee the purchase of new capital equipment, conduct new equipment product validations, coordinate the delivery of equipment (new or existing) to the TMS and working with the export control team to ensure all required export licenses have been obtained for the equipment being shipped.

Qualifications:

Required

o Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
o Minimum of 5 years of hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment that includes new product launches
o Experience with manufacturing processes (Stainless and Aluminum Machining, Welding, Heat Treating, Assembly, Die Casting), equipment selection, tooling and part process inspection
o Thorough understanding and working experience with GD&T
o Thorough knowledge of Quality systems, methods and practices; QS 9000, AS9100, APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, NADCAP and MSA
o Exposure to Aerospace standards, and specifications (NADCAP Welding, Fasteners, Heat Treating & Finishing)
o Ability to interpret 3D CAD models and drawings.
o Knowledge of ECN/ECO (Engineering Change Order or Notification) processes for document change management.
o Exposure to multicultural environment and program launches.
o Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
o Knowledge in MFG-Pro BOMS, Routers and Work centers.

Preferred
o Master's Degree
o Proficiency in Product Data Management or Product Life-Cycle Management (PDM/PLM) systems for document control and workflow management.
o Additional Certifications: Lean 6-sigma methods preferred, including Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
o General awareness/knowledge of aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS).
o Design knowledge of interconnect components (connectors, backshells, wiring assemblies) for aviation, aerospace, and industrial markets.
o Experience using Enovia Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) software.
o Experience in product launches in multicultural environments (working with product development teams from different countries to achieve on time launches.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Has a record of leading improvements in technical processes through personal initiative. (Ex.: Leading task force, focus group or kaizen teams, etc. and implementing the change).
• Strong internal (within business) and external (customers, vendors, etc) communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside of the enterprise.
• Ability to break down complex problems into manageable pieces and execute.
• Aware of technology trends influencing the aerospace industry.
• Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective intra and inter-departmental relationships at all levels. Facilitates consensus solutions to effectively resolve problems and issues.
• Responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating mfg. pro data to support cost and data accuracy for Tijuana manufacturing site.
