Lead Engineer
Eaton's Aerospace FED Division is currently seeking a Lead Engineer to join our team. This position will be located at our Glenolden, PA facility.
As a member of the Product Design Group, the Lead Engineer is responsible for leading new product developmental & research projects. The Lead Engineer is responsible for performing and managing multiple phases of product design, analysis and validation, starting from VOC (voice of customer) or customer's preliminary specifications, to final customer approval and full rate production; including requirements and boundary conditions negotiation, product line extensions, failure analysis, product validation, prototype coordination, and follow up of project status. This role includes leading the Technical Integrated Product Team (IPT) by driving the team to program milestones, controlling costs and ensuring a high-level of engineering discipline.

This position is responsible for leading complex projects within sensing product line (which includes oil debris monitoring systems, pressure transducers, fluid level sensors) to support commercial & military aerospace applications. global team. The lead engineer coordinates technical work with global engineering teams across multiple sites within the business.
Projects typically include frequent customer technical communication covering design integration, technical proposal presentation, reverse engineering, analysis, report writing, planning and managing of component testing. The Lead Engineer will develop, maintain and promote constructive and favorable relationships with current and prospective customers, vendors, peers and other team members. Additionally, the Lead Engineer may support aftermarket business through PMA, DER, SAR, and Manual repair development.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year.

What you'll do:
• Lead an IPT of mechanical, electrical, software, system, test, and other engineers to develop new or upgrade existing actuator products for aerospace applications.
• Lead proposal teams in response to customer requests for quote and internal cost out initiatives.
• Plan the design, analysis and verification activities for new product developments.
• Deliver on program milestones by estimating task durations, identify resource needs and track tasks to closure.
• Assume ownership of architecture and functional description of products or systems being developed.
• Drive engineering discipline with regards to first pass yield, on-time delivery and design in accordance with Eaton standards.
• Oversee development testing and review engineering test data to ensure product requirement compliance.
• Manage product requirements through requirements management tool (DOORS) including impact assessments, customer change notices and internal requirement flow down.
• Manage assigned tasks and team tasks to meet schedule and budget.
• Responsible for being the main technical customer interface for project.
• Champion process adherence and improvement across the engineering organization, and enforces adherence to processes and standards on assigned programs.
• Assist with continuous improvement through writing new processes and/or improving existing processes or standards.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of seven (7) years professional experience in operations, engineering, testing, or other related field.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Glenolden, PA will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Electrical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Aerospace design experience (Aircraft Engine mechanical systems design).
• Experience leading international design teams for new product development.
Skills:
• Proficient knowledge in fluid mechanics.
• Proven ability to lead aerospace development projects and deliver on commitments.
• Ability to work in a lab and production environment requiring the use of safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection)
• Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems for documentation control and workflow management.
• Knowledgeable in applying GD&T in accordance with ANSI Y 14.5, dimensional stack-ups, etc.
• Working knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), tolerance allocation and lean manufacturing methods is preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of engineering design and product reliability concepts as to facilitate analysis of product line designs
• Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R & R, control charts, Pareto charts, etc.
• Knowledge of industry and customer specific quality processes (i.e., ISO9001, AS9100 etc).
• Knowledge of product and end user application/specifications, including product testing requirements.
