Lead Analyst - Lease Accounting
What you'll do:
Finance / Accounting - Lease Accounting (IFRS / ASC 842- U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Role Purpose
The Lead Analyst is responsible for end to end ownership of global lease accounting operations within a shared services model. This role ensures accurate accounting, reporting, compliance, and process excellence for lease portfolios in accordance with ASC 842/ IFRS 16, while driving standardization, automation, and stakeholder confidence.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lease Accounting & Compliance
• Own and manage global lease accounting activities under ASC 842/ IFRS 16
• Ensure accurate recognition, measurement, and disclosure of:
o Right of Use (ROU) assets
o Lease liabilities
o Lease interest and depreciation
• Oversee lease modifications, remeasurements, renewals, and terminations

• Maintain compliance with statutory, SOX, and internal control requirements

2. Period Close & Financial Reporting
• Lead month end, quarter end, and year end close for lease accounting
• Review and approve:
o Lease journals
o Reconciliations
o Variance analysis
• Support group consolidation, external reporting, and audits
• Ensure accurate financial statement disclosures related to leases

3. Shared Services Operations Management
• Manage centralized lease accounting operations across regions/countries
• Define and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and control frameworks
• Act as single point of contact for lease accounting within shared services
• Ensure service level adherence (SLAs) with business units

4. Team Leadership & Capability Building
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of lease accountants
• Allocate work, review deliverables, and ensure quality outputs
• Drive technical upskilling on lease standards and tools
• Support succession planning and talent development

5. Stakeholder & Business Partnership
• Partner with:
o Corporate Finance
o Real Estate / Procurement
o Legal
o External Auditors
• Provide technical advisory on lease structuring and accounting impact
• Support business decisions with financial and accounting insights

6. Systems, Data & Process Excellence
• Own and optimize lease accounting systems (e.g., Co star system)
• Ensure data integrity between lease systems and ERP
• Drive process automation, simplification, and continuous improvement
• Lead or support system migrations and process transitions

7. Controls, Audit & Risk Management
• Ensure robust internal controls over lease accounting
• Act as primary contact for internal and external audits
• Address audit observations and drive sustainable corrective actions
• Monitor accounting changes and assess business impact

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
• Chartered Accountant (CA)/ CMA
Experience
• 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong expertise in ASC 842/ IFRS 16
• Experience in shared services / global delivery model
• Prior people management experience
Skills:
Technical Skills
• IFRS 16 / ASC 842 application and interpretation
• Lease accounting systems & ERPs
• Financial reporting, reconciliations, and controls
• Advanced Excel; exposure to Power BI or analytics tools preferred
