Global Electronics Lead

Eaton's Bussmann Division is currently seeking a Global Electronics Lead. This is a hybrid position (3 days on-site, 2 days remote per week) based at our Ellisville, MO location. Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates currently residing within the US/PR.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year.

What you'll do:

The Global Electronics Lead serves as the North America center of expertise for Bussmann' smart fuse switch and broader smart electronics portfolio, combining deep embedded systems knowledge with customer facing technical leadership to drive innovative product creation. This role gathers and translates Voice of Customer insights into clear design requirements, aligns commercial, marketing, and engineering teams, and supports the full lifecycle of electronic products, from concept development and prototyping through launch, field adoption, and sustaining engineering. The position performs advanced system level design and problem solving, partners closely with global development teams and suppliers, and ensures solutions meet performance, manufacturability, and cost objectives while enabling a strong pipeline of next generation smart products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the NA center of expertise for Bussmann' smart electronic products, providing technical support to customers, commercial teams, and operations.
  • Lead VOC activities, including customer visits, field evaluations, and troubleshooting sessions, to translate customer needs into clear engineering and product requirements.
  • Act as the primary liaison between product marketing, commercial teams, and product development to ensure alignment of customer feedback, design intent, and roadmap priorities.
  • Support the development and execution of the electronics and smart products roadmap, contributing technical insight and validating product direction.
  • Guide cross functional engineering teams by providing technical leadership, clarifying expectations, and coordinating tasks across hardware, firmware, mechanical, and testing disciplines.
  • Collaborate with electronic suppliers and manufacturing partners to support prototype builds, issue resolution, manufacturability, and design for production activities.
  • Own or contribute to design controls, including requirements definition, documentation, change management, verification and validation plans, and regulatory or certification inputs.
  • Contribute to agile development cycles, participating in sprint planning, requirement refinement, design reviews, and continuous improvement of development practices.
  • Apply expertise in analog/digital circuits, microcontrollers, firmware interaction, and signal processing to support design decisions and troubleshoot system level issues.
  • Support product launches and sustaining activities, ensuring robust handoff from development to operations and addressing issues related to quality, reliability, or field performance.
  • Develop schedules, milestones, and budgets for electronics development activities and coordinate timely progress across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a continuous pipeline of innovation by gathering market intelligence, benchmarking competitive offerings, and identifying opportunities for future features, platforms, or programs.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic product design utilizing modern microprocessors, networking, user interface and power supply designs
  • Experience partnering with customers to elicit requirements, gather voice of customer feedback, and support product functionality through training and issue resolution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with developing firmware development, hardware bring-up and BSP development
  • Experience in designing products to meet UL safety requirements and working with UL for certification
  • Experience with industrializing products with international-based contract manufacturers
  • Experience with sensing technologies, electro-mechanical systems & serial communications

Skills:

  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems & their protection components
  • Able to work outside normal hours and travel domestically and internationally (~25%)
  • Ability to communicate complex electronics concepts clearly to customers, including engineers, technicians, and non technical stakeholders
  • Strong ability to gather and translate Voice of Customer (VoC) into electrical, hardware, and system requirements to inform design decisions and product improvements
  • Experience collaborating cross functionally with product management, manufacturing, quality, and field support teams to resolve customer issues and drive product enhancements
  • Comfortable presenting technical content in customer meetings, design reviews, and on site or virtual support engagements
