Engineering Technician

Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Engineering Technician. This position is ONSITE Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm at our Wilsonville, OR Eaton facility.

The primary function of the Engineering Technician is to assist in improved productivity within the engineering teams of Low Voltage Assemblies, Medium Voltage Controls, Medium Voltage Assemblies, Motor Control Centers, Enclosed Control and/or Medium Voltage Switches in support of the goals established by the Portland Power Center. This is accomplished by executing various front end functions from creation of job folders, drawing quality checks, process audits, maintenance of drawing files, quality audits, shop training and warranty resolutions.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $47000 - $69000 a year.

What you'll do:

In this role:
A. Create job folders for incoming customer orders and enter job data into plant schedule and Vista.
B. Modify drawings/MIs, schematics and wiring diagrams for shop personnel to assemble Portland Power Center product lines (electrical and mechanical design using AutoCAD).
C. Perform all applicable POM uploads and changes
D. Assist Engineering in inspection of equipment during production. Items to include: panels and components, omissions, damage, proper electro-mechanical functionality and appearance.
E. Assist Engineering team and testers to determine cause and report findings of issues discovered during test.
F. Support PAE and Tester to assure successful customer Witness Tests.
G. Work closely with Engineers, Testers and Production Leads to ensure continuous application of quality control standards to products and work processes. Promote continuous quality improvement.
H. Assist in supporting warranty resolutions as requested.
I. Perform schematic to wiring diagram drawing checks.
J. Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive ability, and analytical problem solving aptitude with individuals and groups to facilitate process improvements within teams
K. Assist in Manufacturing Technician training and instruction, to include reading and trouble-shooting schematics wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.
L. Work with engineering and shop to resolve technical issues and review released shop drawings.
M. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year experience in engineering or manufacturing
  • Must have experience working with CAD/Inventor or any other 3D software
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Wilsonville, OR facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Engineering
  • Working experience in Electrical Systems
  • Working towards an Engineering degree
  • Understanding of Electrical Distribution Systems
