Eaton's Aerospace Group, Mission Systems Division (MSD), is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead engineering activities at its Westminster MD facility. This role reports to the Senior Product Development Engineering Manager, Actuations Capability. As part of a cutting-edge composites organization, the Engineering Manager will provide technical and personnel leadership for the Westminster engineering team, overseeing the design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing of composite pressure vessels and structures for space, military, aircraft, and commercial applications. The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

The Engineering Manager will lead New Product Development (NPD) efforts as well as ensure effective execution of engineering support activities aligned with production and sustainment goals. The role also provides leadership and oversight of Bid and Proposal (B&P) activities supporting the Actuations sub-capability.

This position manages a local team of engineers responsible for delivering Westminster projects, including setting aligned goals, evaluating performance, and coaching team members. The role also contributes to short- and long-range planning and supports the development and execution of technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives.

This is a hands-on, working manager role suited for an experienced project leader who can independently lead an engineering team and work effectively across a matrixed organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead and guide an engineering team to deliver high quality technical outputs on time, providing execution coaching and creating opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture.
• Provide people leadership including priority setting, goal alignment, performance management, and talent development.
• Build and strengthen engineering, technical, and project skills across the team to support NPD and broader site and divisional initiatives, ensuring robust training and continuous development.
• Ensure consistent application of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) principles across all projects.
• Lead New Product Development (NPD) through coordination with cross functional leaders, resource owners, and staff.
• Forecast resource demand and proactively manage team capacity and capability for short and long term execution.
• Manage projects using Eaton ProLaunch standard project and design processes.
• Plan and coordinate Technical Reviews with staff to ensure design and execution rigor.
• Participate in the strategic planning process for the site; Creation of product and technology roadmaps, development of long-term investment budget, promoting strategic investment to executive leadership.
• Define and execute a vision and strategy for the Product Support function.
• Provide engineering leadership and technical decision making in support of production, quality, and sustainment goals, ensuring timely resolution of manufacturing and fielded product issues and overseeing design and analysis for failure investigations.
• Ensure effective engineering support for the IPT Cabinet by monitoring product line performance metrics (e.g., quality, on time delivery), partnering with the IPT Director to identify and implement improvements, and maintain product integrity and safety through mentoring cognizant engineers and providing technical oversight of change management and non conforming material in production.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
• 7+ years of experience in design and development engineering
• 3+ years of leadership experience, direct or indirect
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred:

• BS Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering
• MS in engineering and/or business management is desirable.
• 5 years leading New Product Development or Research and Development including direct management and supervision of technical professionals.
• 5 years leading and providing engineering support within a production environment.
• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt certification
• Basic understanding of corporate financial principles and terminology
• Working knowledge of structural analysis and classical laminated plate theory
• Experience with Composite Materials, Composite Structures, and/or ideally Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels.

Skills:

• Track record of solving complex engineering problems on time and to budget.
• Experience leading and influencing cross-functional engineering teams.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well with customers, all internal functions, and Site Leadership.
• Ability to interact with business and technology leaders.
• Successful candidate will have a demonstrated Track Record in SOME of the following criteria (proficiency in all areas NOT required):
o Successfully guiding project leads and technical experts on the principles of Aerospace Life Cycle Management (LCM) including APQP.
o Developing and growing technical Engineers.
o Experience with identifying ideas for continuous improvement and successful deployment of new processes and tools.
o Experience with Composite Materials, Composite Structures, and/or ideally Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels.

• Up to 20% travel may be required.
