EHS engineer
What you'll do:
Accountable for: facilitating EHS activities at the site; tracking EHS performance; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of national, area, and local regulatory requirements, and; ensuring documents are available in the local languages. Position is responsible for: maintaining site's ISO/OHSAS certifications; assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings on a timely basis; completion of required training for relevant personnel; managing interfaces with the public and governmental authorities with adverse findings and enforcement actions; assists actions during crises; site security, creating a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site.
A. Assist management and directs site in achieving EHS targets & objectives. .
B. Assist risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects.
C. Facilitate zero incident EHS culture throughout site.
D. Support annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country and local regulations.
E. Uses established EHS data processes such as MESH Prism and Benchmark to manage data like injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information.
F. Teach a course, seminar or workshop on MESH elements and regulation etc. and follow up training record of EHS to ensure that all training is tracked to completion.
G. Support and lead Validated assessment / self-assessment and development of an action plan.
H. Lead to facilitate Council meetings (EHS, Occupational Safety and Health Committee)
I. Support to ensure compliance with MESH requirements in site
J. Support EBS Pull deployment and various assessments such as EBEA, OpA, MESH (self)assessment
K. Assist management and directs site in achieving EHS targets & objectives."
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Engineering, Technical Engineering or Science discipline
- Min. 3yrs experience or education with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training. Experience in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent.
- Knows the basic concepts of problem solving and analytical/ statistical techniques, including A3; 8D; Six Sigma; problem definition
- Understanding of GHG, Water and Waste optimization
- Fluent English skills both written and verbal
- Ability to integrate CI & EHS with other functions
- Ability to act as an agent of change. Effective in enabling and driving change
- Delivering all communication with clarity, impact and passion, and tailored to the audience
- Good Presentation Skills
