Eaton Corporation is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead product engineering within our Power Delivery and Regulation Division (PDRD). This role is based at PDRD's headquarters and primary manufacturing campus in Waukesha, WI, which houses engineering, marketing, finance, and operations supporting multiple product lines.

Reporting directly to the Vice President & General Manager of PDRD, the Director of Engineering is accountable for all Research, Development, and Sustaining Engineering activities across the division, representing an approximately $1.6B revenue portfolio. The role has a functional reporting relationship to the Electrical Systems and Services (ESS) Group Vice President of Engineering.

This position leads a globally distributed engineering organization with team members located in the United States, Mexico, and India, while also leveraging Eaton Research Labs and Centers of Excellence worldwide. PDRD operates four production facilities, all located within the United States.

Key Objectives

The Director of Engineering is responsible for driving technical excellence and execution across the following focus areas:
• New Technology and Product Introductions (NTI / NPI)
• Product line support including day to day production and field support
• Cost reduction and supply chain resiliency initiatives
• Customer order conversion and maintenance of product definition data (BOMs, material specifications, drawings, and models for ETO products)
• Development, deployment, and ongoing support of design automation platforms

The expected annual salary range for this role is $203000 - $297000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

Global Engineering Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high performing, global engineering organization.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Establish and execute aggressive annual objectives aligned with PDRD business priorities and Engineering Functional Excellence.
• Represent Eaton's strategic and technical interests through participation in industry standards development and the creation of impactful intellectual property.
Revenue Growth and Innovation
• Champion the development of differentiated competitive technical solutions.
• Drive innovation through disciplined research and development investment and agile execution methods.
• Enable revenue growth and market share expansion through technology leadership.
Cross Functional and External Collaboration
• Partner seamlessly with operations, marketing, finance, supply chain, and commercial teams to achieve shared business objectives.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
Portfolio and Investment Management
• Partner with Marketing and Finance to develop and execute technology and product roadmaps.
• Lead engineering portfolio and resource management across programs and platforms.
• Manage approximately $10 million in annual R&D investment, ensuring strong return on investment and alignment with enterprise priorities.
Operational and Functional Excellence
• Drive safety, quality, and efficiency across engineering processes and execution.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Eaton Business System (EBS) principles.
• Ensure people, processes, and tools are aligned to support sustainable growth and operational scalability.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership and management experience
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in engineering
• Proven experience leading global engineering teams
• Demonstrated success delivering and industrializing global product portfolios, preferably electro magnetic products
• Experience in utility and industrial markets regulated by IEEE and IEC standards
• Background in medium voltage electric transformer technologies, including production and field applications
• Experience with model based design and model based systems engineering (MBSE)
