Director of Engineering
Eaton is seeking a Director of Engineering for its Power Distribution and Control Assemblies (PDCA) Division. The Engineering Director position will be located in Asheville, North Carolina or Greenwood South Carolina, or Charlotte, North Carolina. Relocation assistance is offered for this position. The role requires 25% travel.
The Director of Engineering will oversee all aspects of product engineering and technology for the Power Distribution and Control Assemblies (PDCA) Division of Eaton. This role will lead advanced R&D, New Product Development, Sustaining Engineering (Maintenance of Line), Product and Technology Roadmaps and Engineer to Order (ETO) process and tools. The PDCA product lines are Low Voltage Switchgear, Medium Voltage Switchgear, Low and Medium Voltage Motor Control, Medium Voltage Drives and an advanced technology Medium Voltage drives team and an advanced Medium Voltage research laboratory.
What you'll do:
• Develop and implement an annual comprehensive product roadmap for all PDCA product lines and markets. Prioritize investments across product lines to maximize impact.
• Establish and evolve a five-year vision for the PDCA product offering and supporting technology roadmap.
• Lead teams to develop new products on-time, on-spec and on-budget with a view to reducing overall new product development (NPD) cycle time.
• Deliver cost-out through Value Add/Value Engineering (VAVE) process in all product lines.
• Oversee the Engineer-to-order (ETO) process and automation tools for all product lines in PDCA ensuring excellence in customer drawing approval packages and manufacturable high quality ETO designs.
• Attract, develop and retain talent for both product design engineers and ETO engineers. Partner with HR for early campus recruiting, intern programs, CO-OP assignments and direct hires.
• Conduct business-level verification, reliability and market testing of new solutions.
• Lead the business patent council and meet division objectives for Intellectual Property creation.
• Manage R&D expenses and Capital spending for the Division.
• Ensure new and existing product designs are of the highest quality with robust reliability through advanced modeling, simulation, reliability testing and consistent use of Design for Six Sigma.
• This position will be the engineering leader for Eaton's Global Product Line for Medium Voltage Assemblies overseeing the coordination of global product development and sharing of technology across regions.
• Interface with field Application Sales Engineers on highly technical product questions and issues.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 12 years of product engineering experience.
• Minimum 7 years of leadership experience in product engineering.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• MBA or equivalent business degree.
• 10+ years of executive-level engineering leadership.
• Active leadership in industry committees and standards organizations (IEEE, UL, NEMA, IEC, NFPA).

The expected annual salary range for this role is $198749.97 - $291499.96 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
