Design Engineer
What you'll do:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Integral part of the product development team will lead the conceptualization, development, and checking of designs static or dynamic. Design output would include but not limited to modeling conceptual ideas, part drawings, part lists (BOM), assembly drawings, manufacturing instruction drawings or drawings for instruction manuals (publications), MEPs, wiring diagrams, schematics, application of Special Characteristics to drawings, PCB layouts, Labels and, general specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepares models as part of the Product Design team, working closely with product engineers to conceptualize product models.
2. Prepares drawings defined by project team. Produces design layouts and documentation for the construction and testing of prototype models and evaluates designs for fits, tolerance stack, volume, etc., using CAD tools.
3. Create and interpret drawings and layout of raw materials, parts, assemblies, schematics, wiring diagrams, publications and specifications independently for Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing.
4. Realize changes and additions for existing drawings and diagrams, according to requirements.
5. Independently originates and develops creative conceptual mechanical and/or electrical design layouts, details, assemblies in a complete and accurate manner, providing design inputs.
6. Ensure quality compliance of design team in relation with drafting standards & procedures, thru monitoring. Support work distribution as required.
7. Works with Product Engineering team to assist in prototype creation and testing.
8. Identifies and leads opportunity for improvement on drafting procedure and deploy to team.
9. Understands, masters and mentors team members on the different drafting work as stated on primary function for all levels of complexity.
10. Execute the design activities with high technical skills and independent trial.
11. Ensure that all designs and materials are correct.
12. Perform PCBs modifications or new design with electrical designers.
13. Investigates all sources of information (marketing, standards, manufacturing, and engineering) that will aid in developing products that meet the needs of our customers.
14. Involvement on failure & causes analysis for components or assemblies under engineer's requirements.
15. Use software and tools to their full capacity and direct and coordinate all training activities for team.
16. Responsible for the coordination of the Division projects, such as drawings scanning, updates in ENOVIA, management of documentation.
17. Complete worklog report for assigned work and projects.
18. Accomplish other instructions assigned by manager.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
1. Bachelor Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Drafting or Electronic fields or equivalent experience. Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design, Engineering (Industrial, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electric, Electronic).
2. Minimum one years (or more) experience in engineered design & drafting work involving CAD tools.
3. Bilingual: English/Spanish.
4. Ability to apply or exercise corporate standards related to mechanical or electrical drafting.
5. Computer knowledge: MS Office Applications, Adobe Illustrator and Solidworks, AutoCAD, Creo or Pro/E and PCB design software.
6. Special knowledge: Fair knowledge of Eaton Electrical products and application of agency standards such as UL, NEMA, NEMA, IEC, CE, NEC, and DEMKO.
7. Competencies: Demonstrate a collaborative style, drives for results, makes decisions / solves problems, promotes & champion change and pursues personal development.
