Automation Supervisor

What you'll do:

Job Summary
Provide leadership for automation and Industry 4.0 initiatives to support manufacturing growth, productivity, and continuous improvement. The role drives the strategic deployment of technologies and capital investments, supports new product industrialization and process optimization, and ensures alignment with ECIS and operational excellence objectives.

Job Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with cross-functional resources to execute projects - Divisional OT/Automation Engineer, Information Technology, Operational Excellence, Manufacturing, Safety, Quality, Technical Services.
2. Responsible for designing the raw data supply and hardware-related initiatives that support the implementation of the Industry 4.0 tools & technology
3. Responsible for ensuring Eaton's compliance with cybersecurity for the deployed and new automation projects.
4. Accountable for enforcing and ensuring machine connectivity & data acquisition activities, machine guarding and/or electrical safety program implementation in new automation initiatives.
5. Responsible for developing and building new equipment, implementing new technologies and equipment retrofit according to capital plan, equipment road map, equipment performance or productivity improvements.
6. Responsible for direct supervision of highly skilled technicians including automation technicians including tool & diemaker, CNC operators and CAD/CAM drafters.
7. Prepare Capital Plan and submit appropriation requests to fund capital for automation projects. Execute projects according to budget, time, scope and return on investment. Develop capital plan and manage appropriation request for automation projects
8. Responsible for providing guidance to new product industrialization process design and productivity improvement to existing processes.
10. Responsible to identify/select suppliers, negotiate requirements and quotes for automation projects.
11. Support departmental teams with machine troubleshooting activities and root cause resolution to address equipment-related issues impacting safety, quality, yield, scrap, and productivity, as well as support the development, submission, and approval of business cases for Industry 4.0 project opportunities.
12. Responsible to run factory acceptance tests (FAT) for automation projects and support new production process development or process transfers through PRO Launch activities.
13. Drive continuous improvements (Kaizens, TPM events, Poke-yoke solutions) by supporting direct reports.
14. Train key plant personnel on the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies being deployed to ensure successful adoption and achieve improvement objectives.

Qualifications:

Education level required

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Electronic, Electromechanical, Electrical, Mechanic, Mechatronic, Industrial engineering) or related fields

Years and area of experience required

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience (operations or automation preferred). Automation, CI and Industry 4.0 background

Technical knowledge

  • Bilingual (English & Spanish).
  • Strong project management skills (PMP or equivalent desirable).
  • Hands-on experience with electronic systems and industrial automation hardware (electrical cabinets, motors, PLCs, sensors).
  • Solid knowledge of industrial automation technologies: PLCs, SCADA, industrial networks, Robotics, Vision Systems, and HMI.
  • Working knowledge of SPC tools (Minitab or equivalent).
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings (CAD).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (TPM), SPC, and ISO 9001.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Power Apps, and Power BI.
  • Executes complex technical tasks with high autonomy.
