APAC Engineering Functional Excellence leader

Eaton's Electrical Sector is hiring an APAC Engineering Functional Excellence leader in Shenzhen/Shanghai.

What you'll do:

A. Drives Continuous Improvement and optimization of our engineering processes with a lean mindset, understanding the full end-to-end aspects of Engineering Operations and the product development lifecycle for better TTM performance .
B. Drives the robust deployment of our standard practices of the Eaton Business System, PreLaunch/ AgileStarts and PROLaunch, setting appropriate KPI's in place for industry leading NPD performance.
C. Influences and educates stakeholders outside the R&D organization to fully deploy the Engineering Processes, where dependencies with other functions exist.
D. Identifies and Implements world-class contemporary engineering processes and practices across the APAC region with global process alignment , like Simulation First; Model Based Design a.o..
E. Ensures harmonization of the engineering processes around APAC and automates where possible, with a focus on global applicability of these processes.
F. Has a good understanding of the goals and strategy of the individual APAC ES divisions.
G. Leads the culture change of utilizing the available platforms to enhance engineering process efficiency and best practice sharing .
H. Drives a DfX strategy and governance across APAC product development, with clear expectations and review mechanisms for manufacturability, environmental considerations, and product robustness to improve design quality and execution consistency.
I. Establish and govern APAC Design Quality & Reliability (DQ&RE) capability as an integral part of EFE governance: define and guidance regional design quality governance, reliability engineering and validation expectations; set metrics and review mechanisms; and partner with Xiao, Jon and team to drive consistent execution across divisions.

J. Deploys Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) across APAC by building the culture and execution roadmap, governing DFSS project selection and rigor, and embedding DFSS tools into the product development lifecycle to enable robust design and strengthen DfX execution where applicable.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in a relevant Science, Engineering, Technology or Maths field (Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, Maths, Computer Science etc).
Minimum 10 years of experience working across engineering, operations and manufacturing, supply chain and sales, with a proven track record influencing across the end-to-end product development process.
Must be intimately familiar with Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies with experience in successfully deploying these initaitives.
Equally important are deep technical knowledge, understanding the complexities of engineering across multiple technologies and R&D management.
Must be comfortable working across functional boundaries and organization structures and have a good influencing and change management skills.
Requires broad foundational technical expertise across areas such as power distribution, power quality and electronics.
Solid understanding of and ability to assess and deploy enterprise IT systems, applications and solutions.
Proven ability to leverage cutting edge technologies like HIL and model based design to drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Strong working knowledge of DFSS deployment and governance (including training/coaching and project rigor), and foundational understanding of reliability engineering and validation expectations to support APAC DQ&RE governance.
Familiar with core DFSS methodology elements such as Voice of Customer/CTQ, risk management, test & validate, and robust launch.

Be able to build strong relationships at all levels serving as advisor and partner, and to create a good working relationship with the global Engineering function to leverage available resources.
Have the ability to develop relationships regionally and informally across Eaton businesses and functions.
Manage multi-disciplinary teams with strong professional presence, with ability to decisively advocate for innovative program concepts.
Strong coaching and facilitation skills to drive method adoption (DFSS/DQ&RE) through influence rather than authority.
