The Impact you will have in this role:

The Systems Engineering family is responsible for the entire technical effort to evolve and verify solutions that satisfy client needs. The primary focus is centered on reducing risk and improving the efficiency, performance, stability, security, and quality of all systems and platforms.

Systems Engineering role specializes in the analysis, evaluation, design, testing, implementation, support, and debugging of all middleware, mainframe, and distributed platforms, tools, and systems of the firm.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for various middleware technologies managed by the team, with a primary focus on Tomcat, WebSphere Business Process Manager, WebSphere Application Server, IBM MQ, Liberty, and Kafka.
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing efficiencies and improvements to standard processes and procedures, including automation through scripting or programming.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Mitigate risk by following established procedures, monitoring controls, identifying key errors, and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.
  • Lead or contribute to automation and scripting initiatives using tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar orchestration tools to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Serve as a key responder for critical and major production incidents, handling end-to-end restoration, root cause analysis, remediation, and post-incident reviews.
  • Ensure production environments are available, perform well, are resilient, and recoverable through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
  • Support new applications deployed across Dev, QA, PSE, and PROD environments.
  • Utilize monitoring and third-party tools to maintain system health and uptime.
  • Install, update, and coordinate patches for security vulnerabilities and bug fixes for WAS, IHS, Tomcat, MQ, and Kafka.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Masters in Computer Science is required.
  • 06+ years' experience in application development and system analysis.


Talents Needed for Success:

  • 6+ years' experience in supporting real time production environments.
  • Extensive debugging skills and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with Middleware technologies like IBM MQ, WebSphere, Tomcat, Liberty & Kafka.
  • ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management, with demonstrated operational discipline.
  • Leadership in driving and resolving Critical and Major production incidents, coordinating across infrastructure, application, and security teams.
  • General knowledge of industry principles and familiarity with modern technologies like Amazon cloud, Unix/Linux, virtualization, etc. is good to have but not a requirement.
  • Familiar with monitoring and ticketing tools SNOW, SPLUNK etc.
  • Certifications in any one of middleware areas will be a plus.
