Position Overview:
We are looking for a Capacity Planner II who is passionate about the asset lifecycle of virtualization infrastructure, both tracking new deployments and arranging the resale of decommissioned equipment.
As a Capacity Planner II at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing cloud computing and AI. Reporting to the Capacity Planning Manager, this individual will be working with cross functional stakeholders to maintain detailed deployment plans for all Work in Progress Fixed Assets to provide visibility for Leadership teams, Accounting, and Auditors. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with hardware owners and external vendors to scope IT Asset Disposal projects, coordinating the resale of decommissioned hardware while maintaining detailed record keeping for Auditors.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain detailed tracking of serialized assets from receipt at warehouse through installation by working directly with hardware owners
- Provide monthly reporting to Accounting with current deployment status for all assets including risks and blockers
- Generate quarterly analyses identifying trends and raising issues for any assets which may have been forgotten or abandoned
- Coordinate with Data Center Operations to scope hardware refresh and disposal projects
- Arrange for hardware disposal and drive shredding with external IT Asset Disposal Vendors ensuring data destruction standards are met
- Reconcile serial level records, ensuring secure handoffs of all equipment and maintaining detailed records for Accounting and Auditors

- You will be primarily responsible for tracking and reporting on the deployment status of net new hardware assets from warehouse to installation and measured by items installed that were not properly reported
- You will additionally return funds to DigitalOcean through equipment resale, promoting high returns while ensuring accurate record keeping and data destructionPrior experience with logistics, hardware deployments, audit, or compliance, preferably for data centers or in a similar industry
What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
- Strong understanding of using Google Sheets to build and update models used to generate reports
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, ability to coordinate across timezones and backgrounds
- Familiarity with fixed asset accounting concepts
- Experience coordinating with cross functional teams and with external vendors
- Bonus: Knowledge of infrastructure concepts (servers, virtualization, resource allocation) or interest in learning
