About Diageo Dali Eryuan Distillery
Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands across spirits and beer categories. These brands include Johnnie Walker, Singleton, Smirnoff, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray, and Guinness.
Located in Eryuan County in Yunnan, the Diageo Eryuan Malt Whisky Distillery will produce Diageo's first China-origin, premium malt whisky. At more than 2,100m above sea level, the 66,000 square meter distillery will also feature an immersive and interactive visitor experience center that will attract whisky enthusiasts and boost the local cultural tourism industry.
About this role
You will lead the development and embedding of quality/compliance systems, minimize food safety risks, and ensure the site meets regulatory requirements and passes all audits. Success lies in driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of accountability.
You will be responsible for:
- Establish quality policies and systems, defining quality goals and targets covering vendor selection/qualification, material intake, in-house processes, controls, and maturation warehouse operations.
- Define and assign quality process responsibilities and accountabilities across the site.
- Develop training and qualification plans for personnel at all levels related to quality and compliance.
- Manage site laboratory operations to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
- Oversee the change control process to maintain quality and compliance integrity.
- Establish tiered processes and performance indicators, using tiered meetings for accountability, coaching, and escalations.
- Drive thorough problem-solving for quality losses and recognize outstanding accomplishments and behaviours.
- Uphold standards to protect Diageo's brands, people, assets, and reputation.
- Liaise with the China Compliance team to develop and implement training plans.
- Conduct internal controls reviews for compliance and continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on provincial and local regulatory developments to ensure site alignment.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Food Science or related fields, or 5+ years of relevant quality/compliance experience in the food/fermentation industry.
- A proven track record in developing systems and adhering to high-quality standards within multinational companies (MNCs) in the Food and Fermentation segments.
- Strong analytical and methodological problem-solving skills, including experience with Design of Experiments (DOE); Green Belt or equivalent Six Sigma certification is desirable.
- Exceptional leadership to drive execution, inspire teams, shape the future of quality practices, and invest in talent.
- The ability to work independently, uphold high standards, and make fair, factual, and analytical decisions.
