About the Site

We operate Guinness packaging facilities at Marshalls Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Runcorn, in North West England, producing canned, bottled and kegged product for Ireland, UK and export markets.

The Belfast site, commissioned in 1983, spans approximately 12 acres and operates a production schedule that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, excluding public holidays. It includes two canning lines for packaging, a tank farm for bulk receipt and dilution to sales gravity, as well as a warehousing and distribution system. The facility manages 130 SKUs, with 60% designated for domestic consumption and 40% for export, offering products ranging in size from 250ml to 568ml.

About the role

As Production Manager for the canning area, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations, driving performance, and ensuring excellence across safety, quality, and efficiency. Your focus will be on developing people, embedding best practices, and delivering sustainable improvements that support the site's strategic goals.

Key responsibilities are;

  • Lead Tier 1 operations within your area, delivering against the balanced scorecard and driving standards
  • Champion governance, compliance and continuous improvement, ensuring conformance with health, safety, environment, quality and regulatory standards (ISO, HACCP, CARM).
  • Drive the Manufacturing Excellence Programme (TRACC) in partnership with site leadership, embedding best practice in performance, standards, capability and asset care.
  • Provide outstanding leadership and coaching to your team, building capability, accountability and a culture of high performance.
  • Actively spend time on the shop floor, role modelling problem-solving, systemic root cause analysis and breakthrough thinking.
  • Manage budgets, resources and capital planning to align with site and company strategy.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Engineering, Manufacturing Excellence, and other key partners to deliver site ambitions.
