Purpose of the Role:

The scope of the Import and Export Manager role includes leading all customs operations for Diageo's Tequila Category. This position is responsible for performing the complete export process for Tequila, Mezcal, and other products as required, ensuring that apart from customs process, all legal authorizations remain active and that customs operations are fully compliant for every market Tequila exports to.

In addition to export responsibilities, the role will also be responsible for end-to-end import operations for raw materials and equipment for Tequila category. This includes leading supplier coordination, reviewing documentation, supervising customs brokerage activities, and ensuring timely delivery to the site. The role holder must ensure full compliance with trade, customs, excise, and internal Diageo policies including IMMEX compliance. Key responsibilities include leading audits, controls, and digital documentation; performing monthly reconciliations; and coordinating tax-stamp (precintos) processes with the tax team to guarantee accurate and timely submissions/reporting to the Tax Authorities(SAT).

Mexican regulations governing customs and CRT (Tequila Regulatory Council) operations are highly strict in terms of controls, processes, and documentation. As such, the role requires a strong understanding of market dynamics and the ability to identify effective solutions for leading customs-related challenges.

Key Accountabilities:

1. The role holder will collaborate across multiple functions to meet the import and export needs defined by the Tequila Category, ensuring that all processes align with Diageo policies and Mexican legal requirements.

2. The role must ensure the operational effectiveness and efficiency of import and export activities by aligning raw materials, bulk, and finished goods inventories with key goals and metrics, optimizing processes, and improving efficiencies. The same rigor applies to the export of finished goods.

3. This role will provide strong support during customs audits by maintaining complete historical records and ensuring all required authorizations are in place, in accordance with Diageo policies and Mexican customs and tax regulations.

The role holder will operate within a global context to help ensure compliance with applicable free trade agreements.

Entry Level Requirements - Capabilities, Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 10 years' experience in Import and Export operation ideally in Spirt industry

• Foreign trade background, including SAT tax programs reporting.

• Knowledge of Mexican Import Export laws, tariff classifications, IMMEX program etc.

• Proficiency in the use of technology and ERPs - SAP, Excel and ideally also PowerBi

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written combined with the ability to engage effectively at all levels in the organisation and Customers

• Demonstrable ability to engage and align partners behind plans and win support for implementing change with internal and external partners

• Numerate and ability to apply performance measures to drive management at all levels with suppliers, internal collaborators and the customer

• Live and breath Tequila CS&L's customer delight DNA - be passionate about customer satisfaction - Every case, every day, everywhere counts

• Spanish and English proficient

Operations complexity:

Tequila is one of the categories with fastest YoY growth ( ~10% 5Yr CAGR) . Tequila became a +1B GBP NSV business requiring management of continuous significative incremental volumes and values YoY

Yearly managed exports: ~10K shipments, ~7000 orders. ~30 markets , ~100 Ship tos, double digit CAGR 5Year

End-to-end import operations including +3M USD in annual tax management, strip-stamp administration& IMMEX program compliance

Responsible of the export of global replenishment for 5 Region (NAM, Asia, GTME, Europe and LA&C) that cover ~30 markets. USA is the most important customer for Tequila, and represents 80% of total volume exported. Rest of the World (ROW) represents a big challenge given the growth and complexity

Tequila has a volatile Supply and Demand environment, ongoing commercial pressure with multidimensional partners across the organization

Category growth causing significant operational changes for Tequila operation, dispatches directly to customers in the US and ROW and ongoing logistics transformation.

Management of diverse modes (road, sea, rail), +25 multiple carriers and logistics suppliers (incl. CT) and shipping lines , ~30 shipping points across globe including direct dispatches to customers,

Evolving maturity of overall logistics processes and digitalization in Tequila requiring hands-on management
