About the function:

Supply Chain & Manufacturing is where our brands are made, moved and delivered to the world.

With over half of our people working across more than 100 sites, this is a complex, large-scale operation that brings together production, logistics, engineering and supplier partnerships.

Context/Scope:

The Customs Analyst acts as bridge between sourcing points and operations teams as responsible role for planning import process into Mexico to deliver product on time ensuring always fulfil with legal framework.

Purpose of Position

The Customs analyst is crucial for ensuring the efficiency of the supply chain and compliance with regulations. Their role includes handling documentation, operative costs and establishing relationships with carriers, customs brokers, and internal customers. Their work directly impacts on product availability and profitability on company goals

Recommendations Expected

Is expected for this position to decide when and how coordinate customs clearance based on business needs in collaboration with other functional areas

Effective management of customs broker performance to keep lead times and proficient execution.

Seek improvements areas in daily operation

Financial Accountability (Budget/Revenue)

Report customs expenses and ensure payments to suppliers according to agreed terms.

Follow financial controls and procedures for budged flow

  • Complex Legal framework and interaction with different government offices: ANAM, COFEPRIS, SE, SAT, IMPI.


Operational and Logistical Challenges:

  • Border Congestion and Delays: Mexico south and north border are facing with social constraints as migratory strikes that triggers uncertain impacts to daily operation.
  • Infrastructure Limitations and Customs Systems Shutdown: Is common to face with systems failures delaying customs dispatches compromising product availability and impacting transportation costs, storages, and demurrages.
  • Security Risks and Corruption: Mexico faces security challenges, including cargo theft, which can impact the supply chain and customs operations. Corruption at some ports of entry and with certain customs officials can also complicate compliance and increase the cost of doing business.

Strategical Accountability

Ensure an effective communication with other internal areas as warehouse, transport, planning, finance, brand change and trade compliance to grant a seamless execution to business operation.

Leadership Responsibilities

This role requires a combination of critical thinking, decision-making, and effective communication skills to collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication:

Facilitating Cross-Department Collaboration: Must effectively collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, supply chain, finance, procurement, and legal, to ensure seamless customs operations.

Liaising with External Stakeholders: Must maintain effective communication with brokers, suppliers, and logistics partners. This is crucial for building strong relationships, resolving issues, and ensuring smooth customs clearance processes.

Key Accountabilities

Customs' clearance of products according company guidelines

  • Shipments follow up with suppliers for product in transit to Mexico.
  • Communication with shipping companies for cargo releasing.
  • Paperwork revision to avoid delays un customs process.
  • Monitoring bonded warehouse acceptance entries and labelling inspections request

Trade Compliance support
  • Support on internal and external audits.
  • Raise any risk detected in daily operation.
  • Record keeping
  • Submit for signature any document needs for customs process: Letters for customs procedures or cargo release with carriers.

Customs Costs and Operational Efficiency

Partial
  • Audit customs broker expenses invoices.
  • Authorize and follow-up payments to suppliers.

Inventory arrival notification to warehouse

  • Provide documents for goods receipt
  • Process goods receipt in ERP- SAP


Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Foreign Affairs, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • English Intermediate level
  • Excel (pivots and common functions for data analysis)
  • Experience in ERP and PBI is an extra plus

Experience in Customs and Trade Compliance.(2 - 3 years)

Knowledge of Customs Regulations. Bonded warehouse and Spirits Industry is a plus.

Success Criteria

Ensuring that all customs processes and activities fully align with local and international regulations, including timely and accurate submission of documentation, adherence to tariff classifications, and observance of trade agreements.

Passing internal and external audits with minimal or no compliance issues, indicating effective management of regulatory requirements and accurate record-keeping.
