About the role:
- The North Africa Commercial Manager is a pivotal member of the cluster covering Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria.
- Accountable for driving commercial strategies and activating brand plans to grow market share while embedding Diageo standard processes.
- Works closely with distributor commercial and marketing teams to build a trusted, productive partnership with both the distributor and trade customers.
- Develops a strong on-trade network with key influencers, decision makers, bartenders, outlet managers, and owners-to lock commercial deals & secure visibility, menu listings, and pouring agreements for Diageo brands.
- Delivers the regional commercial strategy in-market, cultivating the relationships required to achieve Diageo's ambitions.
- Leads commercial engagements with retail and on-trade customers, seeing opportunities in collaboration with distributor commercial and marketing teams.
- Sets budget allocation by brand and channel and proposes market-specific activation plans.
- Build the trade investment plan with the distributor commercial lead to deliver overall brand objectives.
Supports distributor teams in negotiations with priority on-trade and retail accounts.
Role Responsibilities
- Execute market-specific strategies to unlock growth, gain share, and improve profitability.
- Build value-creating relationships with distributors and top customers to secure commercial and brand activation agreements.
- Premium on-trade focus: Curate premium experiences in high-end ONT venues to drive mix and visibility, using menu engineering, bartender advocacy, and pouring deals.
- Lead distributor teams to expand distribution breadth and depth, improving coverage and penetration.
- Prepare QBRs with clear action plans and accountability.
- Prepare monthly internal business reviews, analyzing performance, identifying opportunities, and risk mitigations plans.
- Hit brand important metrics for volume, net sales, and market share in line with the commercial plan.
- Lead market forecasting and timely forecast submissions.
- Deploy an omnichannel approach ensuring a consistent consumer experience across e-commerce (where permitted), on-trade, and off-trade.
- Lead partner management-especially distributors-maintaining sustainable, mutually profitable partnerships.
Experience / skills required
- 5-8 years' commercial experience within matrixed, blue-chip FMCG multinationals.
- Commercial experience in North African markets is value-add
- Strong commercial acumen: cross-functional exposure preferred; advanced numerical and financial capability.
- Demonstrated influence, persuasion, and credibility across levels and functions.
- Excellent analytical, persuasive selling, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building capability.
- Proven track record executing winning commercial strategies in competitive markets while building brand leadership.
