Director of Compliance

The Delta Dental Compliance team is essential in mitigating risk and safeguarding Delta Dental's growth and success. As the Director of Compliance, you are responsible for leading and overseeing this critical team. This entails developing and managing internal controls, process, procedures and audit compliance, managing and overseeing the Company's compliance and privacy plans. The Compliance Director must maintain excellent working relationships with all business teams including quality, operations, technology, product development, marketing, finance, and other corporate teams. You will play a crucial role within the leadership team and will work as a strategic advisor to the business by thinking creatively and advising the Company on achieving its goals while maintaining legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides expert guidance to leadership on compliance issues, including the development and implementation of controls to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures. This involves regular updates and strategic advice to mitigate compliance risks.
  • Continuously monitors regulatory developments both within and outside the company. Keeps abreast of evolving best practices in compliance control to ensure the organization remains ahead of regulatory changes and industry standards.
  • Works closely with relevant stakeholders, including departments and external partners, to address compliance and privacy issues. Facilitates effective communication and collaboration to resolve issues and identify trends.
  • Leads the creation, implementation, and enforcement of compliance and privacy policies, procedures, and ethics guidelines. Ensures these policies are up-to-date and effectively communicated across the organization.
  • Formulates and implements strategies to mitigate identified compliance and privacy risks. This includes conducting risk assessments and developing action plans to address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Lead team to keep track of changes in privacy laws and regulations, ensuring that the organization's practices remain compliant. This involves regular reviews and updates to privacy policies and procedures.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the organization's privacy program, ensuring compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations such as HIPAA and CCPA. This includes overseeing data protection measures and responding to privacy incidents.
  • Collaborates with other functions to oversee internal and external third-party and governmental compliance/privacy investigations or reviews. Independently investigates or supervises the investigation of compliance concerns raised through various reporting mechanisms.
  • Oversees the implementation of comprehensive compliance and privacy education and training programs. Ensures that all employees are aware of and understand their responsibilities regarding compliance and privacy.
  • Prepares and presents regular reports on the status of the compliance and privacy programs to senior management and the board of directors. Provides updates on compliance activities, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years w/Bachelor's degree; 3+ years management
  • Compliance management experience at a regulatory agency, financial services organization, or consulting firm, including the assessment, development, enhancement, and implementation of compliance management programs and associated controls. Experience planning, managing, and executing day-to-day aspects of engagement activities, including project and resource plans, budgeting and invoicing, execution methodologies, deliverables, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in privacy and Healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Proven leadership ability with a commitment to quality in team development, execution, and delivery.
  • Committed to developing positive relationships with clients and engagement teams.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, adaptability, communication skills and professionalism.
  • Strong reputation for integrity and ethics.
  • Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to apply a risk-based analysis to compliance issues and demonstrate creativity and flexibility in developing solutions that satisfy both business requirements and legal obligations.
  • Ability to interpret and implement complex regulatory requirements.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 24. $122,400 - $265,100
