Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in New York, New York.

Work You'll Do
Assist holders of debt investments, including financial institutions, hedge funds, private equity firms, insurance companies, and real estate investment trusts, in managing all aspects of tax information reporting, tax compliance, and tax planning for their debt portfolios. Work with client personnel to develop processes to gather, verify, transmit, and store debt portfolio data. Calculate tax amounts of original issue discount (OID), market discount, premium, taxable gain, basis, and other items. Utilize tax research tools including LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters, Tax Notes, BNA, and CCH to develop and confirm positions on areas including interest nonaccrual, cost recovery, and bad debts. Develop tax project and data management tools using VBA, C++, Access, and SQL. Coordinate teams organized to provide our clients with workable solutions to their tax accounting and information reporting needs. Contribute to practice optimization, eminence, and people development. Support pursuit of new client opportunities among holders of loan, bond, MBS, and ABS securities. Responsible for applying the intricacies of tax regulations and their relationship to business. Develop client service relationships and facilitate specialized Deloitte Tax services to improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client's overall tax risk profile. Apply federal tax compliance principles and working closely with clients as well as the Deloitte Tax Team to further clients' global goals and strategies and align them with industry and economic trends. Provide tax research and analysis for clients in diverse industries. Will commute within the New York, NY area to consult with clients regarding the above job duties.

Requirements
Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eighteen months as Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience providing tax planning process and technology and tax department review and optimization for investment management companies. Position requires twelve months of experience in the following:

  • calculating taxable income and tax basis for clients with various types of filing requirements, including partnerships and corporations;
  • performing tax regulation research and reviewing client data to determine appropriate tax treatments;
  • utilizing tax research tools, including SMP Capital, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and CCH to analyze tax issues related to business transactions and tax implications for a variety of entities and their affiliates;
  • applying tax analysis, including timely filing of tax forms, to various types of entities to meet client-specific compliance requirements;
  • providing clients with tax planning services, including provision of estimates to help mitigate tax risks; and
  • evaluating internal control risk by communicating with clients and documenting procedures in tax technical memos.
  • Less than 10% domestic travel outside of normal commuting distance.

Other
Annual Salary: $85,680.00 - $159,120.00.
