Work You'll Do
As a Consultant on the project, you will:
- Gather and document pension plan requirements, including plan provisions (FERS, CSRS, state/local, or commercial), eligibility/vesting rules, and service crediting definitions (credited vs. vesting service).
- Define and maintain benefit calculation requirements (e.g., high-3, accrual formulas), service purchase/buyback rules, and annuity options including survivor benefit elections.
- Develop end-to-end pension process flows spanning estimate requests, retirement processing, and post-retirement lifecycle activities.
- Translate pension policies into configuration logic and executable business rules for the pension calculation engine.
- Analyze and validate source data (employment/service history, contribution history) to ensure calculation inputs are complete, accurate, and auditable.
- Collaborate with Product (BenefitsIQ PensionIQ), Technology, and UI/UX teams to align rules-engine behavior, calculation requirements, and retirement workflow design.
- Plan and execute scenario-based testing and complex calculation validation to confirm configurations and formulas produce expected outcomes across edge cases.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- 3+ years of experience delivering benefits plans for clients in roles such as a product manager, benefits operations manager, benefits analysts, benefits administration, business analysis etc.
- 2 + years of experience with Pension plan structures, service history, eligibility rules, and benefit calculations.
- Ability to travel 0-50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred:
- Prior experience supporting Federal, State, or Local benefits products preferred.
- Prior experience supporting Large employer environments strongly perferred.
- Familiarity with state or municipal pension systems, and FERS/CSRS plans.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $88,800 to $148,000.
