Manager - Middle and Back Office Oversight - Investment Management - Enterprise Operations & Risk

Work you'll do
As a Manager, you will have opportunities to:
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of business, operational, regulatory, and technology risks across the investment management middle and back office, and develop pragmatic risk mitigation strategies aligned to client objectives.
- Manage assessments of key investment management operating functions, including trade lifecycle controls (pre-/post-trade), trade capture and enrichment, confirmations/affirmations, settlement, reconciliations, collateral and margin processes, corporate actions, pricing/valuation inputs, fee calculations, and exception management.
- Advise clients on strengthening operational governance and oversight across internal teams and third parties, including custodians, fund administrators, prime brokers, and pricing vendors, with a focus on service management, escalation paths, control ownership, issue management, and management reporting.
- Lead evaluations of the impact of technology modernization, automation, and artificial intelligence/machine learning on middle and back office operations, including implications for operational controls, data quality, process efficiency, and resiliency.
- Oversee the development of client deliverables and internal practice materials, including operating model assessments, current/future-state process maps, control inventories, key risk indicators (KRIs), service-level agreements (SLAs) and operating-level agreements (OLAs), vendor oversight frameworks, and procedure documentation.
- Manage day-to-day client delivery by structuring workplans, driving execution, overseeing quality, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outcomes.
- Lead client meetings and working sessions, synthesize complex operational issues into clear executive-level insights, and provide actionable recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
- Coach, develop, and mentor junior team members by providing direction, feedback, and opportunities for growth across delivery, client management, and technical content areas.
- Contribute to practice growth by supporting business development efforts, including proposal development, pursuit support, thought leadership, and go-to-market initiatives related to investment management operations and risk transformation.
- Engage with industry participants and market trends related to outsourcing/insourcing, operating model evolution, vendor capabilities, and emerging practices impacting middle and back office operations.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree.
- 6+ years of experience in financial services or consulting with significant experience in investment management operations, operational risk, or middle/back office transformation across asset managers, wealth managers, hedge funds, private equity firms, fund administrators, custodians, prime brokers, or related service providers.
- Demonstrated knowledge of asset management, wealth management, hedge funds, private equity, and/or operational risk and controls within investment management environments.
- Strong understanding of investment management middle and back office functions such as trade operations, post-trade processing, investment accounting and fund accounting, performance and attribution inputs, reconciliations (cash/position/security), collateral management and margin, corporate actions, pricing/valuation support, and reporting.
- Experience with investment management systems, technologies, and tools such as order management systems (OMS), execution management systems (EMS), portfolio management tools, portfolio/investment accounting platforms, reconciliation tools, collateral platforms, data warehouses, and performance reporting/attribution software.
- Experience designing, assessing, and enhancing oversight and control frameworks for middle/back office operations, including several of the following:
- Defining and monitoring SLAs/OLAs, KPIs/KRIs, and service review governance
- Break management and root-cause analysis (e.g., cash/position/price breaks)
- Issue and incident management, including operational risk events and remediation tracking
- Operational controls design, optimization, and testing (e.g., reconciliations, approvals, maker-checker, access controls, EUC risk)
- Third-party/vendor oversight, including due diligence, ongoing monitoring, and controls assurance artifacts (e.g., SOC reports)
- Operational resiliency and business continuity considerations for critical processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead workstreams or engagements, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes within deadlines and budget expectations.
- Strong project/program management skills, including workplan management, risk identification, stakeholder coordination, and escalation management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience leading client discussions, presenting to senior stakeholders, and supporting or leading proposal development and sales presentations.
- Experience managing and mentoring teams in a fast-paced, client-service environment.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
- Ability to travel up to 75%, on average
