Position Summary
Our Deloitte Finance Transformation team practices to help chief financial officers, controllers, and finance teams define and execute their finance and global business services agendas and strategies. You will work with leading-class teams and solutions, helping clients navigate challenging environments, market uncertainty, technology development, and regulatory considerations to unlock value. Your work may span strategy, operations, process design, and technology as we partner with clients to transform finance.
Work you'll do
As a Manager of Controllership on the Finance Transformation team, you will be responsible for...
- Leading finance transformation engagements for higher education clients, including current-state assessments, future-state design, implementation planning, and support for new client opportunity identification and pursuit activities
- Managing project workstreams focused on finance operating model design, controllership processes, close and consolidation, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Developing client deliverables, including process maps, transformation roadmaps, business requirements, and executive-level presentations
- Facilitating workshops and meetings with client stakeholders to identify issues, define requirements, and support decision-making throughout the engagement lifecycle
- Supervising teams, reviewing work products, and coaching junior practitioners while managing project timelines, risks, and client expectations

The team
Our Finance Transformation team helps organizations redesign finance functions to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and support strategic decision-making. The team works with clients to address finance process improvement, operating model changes, technology enablement, and organizational transformation. For this role, the focus is on serving higher education clients with complex finance environments and evolving operational needs.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
- 6+ years of experience in finance transformation, controllership, accounting, finance operations, or finance process improvement
- 3+ years of experience leading project workstreams or teams
- 2+ years of experience serving higher education clients
- Experience developing process documentation, business requirements, and executive-level presentations

Preferred:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Higher Education Administration
- Experience with finance operating model design, close and consolidation, budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting
- Experience supporting finance transformation initiatives for colleges, universities, or academic medical institutions
- Experience with enterprise resource planning implementations or finance technology enablement
- Certified Public Accountant or Project Management Professional certification
