Work you'll do
As a Managed Services Engineer II on the Cyber Operate team, you will be responsible for...
- Monitor security alerts generated by security tools; provide continuous monitoring as required; and follow documented standard operating procedures (SOPs) and playbooks to acknowledge, validate, and escalate security alerts within service-level agreement (SLA) timeframes.
- Respond to incidents using documented procedures and templates; determine whether activity is valid or a false positive; investigate client notifications regarding security alerts; and ensure the accuracy and completion of all tickets.
- Coordinate and address hotline calls as necessary; review client feedback on escalated tickets; and escalate required corrective actions to Level 2 (L2) analysts, as applicable.
- Perform threat-based indicator-of-compromise (IOC) searches using designated tools; monitor new threat and intelligence sources; and provide content-tuning recommendations to the L2 team for effective solution delivery.
- Document shift handover details and meeting minutes; notify shift leads when procedures need updating; maintain processes, runbooks, templates, and procedures; complete required certifications and learning; and comply with access requirements, client-specific training, and shift and office guidelines.

Our Cyber Operate offering Operates clients' critical cyber assets as a fully managed service or working in partnership with clients. Provides talent, leading technologies, and processes to operate client cyber capabilities, including the identity lifecycle, security operations, threat intelligence, application security business transformation, and continuous compliance
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or another information technology discipline; or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in cybersecurity or security operations.
- Documented coursework, training, certification, or experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technology and security technologies, including intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), proxy technology, web application firewalls (WAF), endpoint detection and response (EDR), antivirus tools, sandboxing, network- and host-based firewalls, threat intelligence, and penetration testing.
- Documented coursework, training, certification, or experience identifying attack activity, including network probing and scanning, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS), and malicious code activity; networking protocols, including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), and Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP); and system security architecture and security solutions.
- Ability to work rotating shifts for 24/7 client support and work from a Deloitte office 50% of the time.
- Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
Preferred:
- Experience with threat hunting, detection engineering, or vulnerability management.
- Programming experience in one or more languages.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $82,600 to $162,800.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
