Work You'll Do

You will bring considerable technical, functional and leadership experience as part of our Integration Engineering team. You'll be responsible for leading teams who support the design, development and deployment of large-scale complex software solutions at an enterprise level using your Integration Engineering expertise. Your team will support various applications and the complex programs surrounding these applications including internal consultants, near-shore and off-shore technologists and multiple vendor relationships. You'll work across geographies, with accountability for the success, effectiveness and delivery of multiple work streams managing a large technology team. You'll lead planning and budgeting; mobilizing and managing engagement teams; defining deliverable structure and content; facilitating buy-in of proposed solutions from management levels; direct on-time, quality delivery of work; manage technology economics; and risk. In addition, you'll do the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integration Design & Architecture: Design complex integration solutions following industry best practices and leveraging various integration design patterns (e.g., publish/subscribe, request/reply, aggregator). Develop and implement solutions that adhere to established enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • API Management: Design, build, and manage APIs using API Management capabilities, ensuring secure and efficient communication between systems (REST/SOAP).
  • EDI Implementation & Management: Implement and manage Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes, including configuration of trading partners, profiles, and standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT).
  • Development & Deployment: Develop, test, and deploy integration processes across environments (Test, UAT, Production), managing the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Monitor integration performance, proactively identify and resolve issues, and provide expert-level post-deployment support.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for designs, configurations, data mapping, and architectural decisions.
  • Collaboration & Best Practices: Work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize data flows and adhere to industry best practices in integration development.
  • Accountability: Take ownership of assigned integration projects, manage expectations, and guide junior team members toward successful project delivery.
  • AI & Agentic Integration: Utilize AI features (e.g., Boomi GPT, MuleSoft Vibes) to accelerate development, automate documentation, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Counselor and Coach: You'll perform the role of counselor and coach, providing input and guidance into the project staffing process. You'll work with other staff members, mentoring, guiding and counseling them through their development.

Associate Vice President, Software Engineering - Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on Integration development experience with well-known platforms and products such as Boomi, MuleSoft, Tibco, WebSphere, Google Apigee, Azure Logic Apps, Workato and others.
  • 10+ years' experience working in a consulting firm environment or within a relevant industry sector (e.g. retail, healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, etc.).
  • 10+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience, managing and delivery large software engineering engagements, working across borders;
  • 10+ years planning and managing project initiatives as a key member of the software development team, working closely with practitioners, vendors, internal leaders or work in a similar environment;
  • 10+ years of experience leading teams to design, develop and enhance complex technical solutions in Java and Microsoft technologies, both on Cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP) and .NET.
  • Experience with EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and implementing EDI solutions, including understanding of common documents (810, 850, 856, etc.)
  • Experience with rational databases and strong SQL skills.
  • Integration Professional Level Certifications - Developer Associate & Professional are required.
  • One certification in a cloud technology platform such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language - Spring Boot, JavaScript or Python.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred background and skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to handle difficult situations, multiple initiatives and rapidly changing priorities;
  • Experience with industry standard System Development Life Cycle methodologies;
  • Industry recognized technology certifications;
  • Experience leading high performance results driven teams with a focus on client satisfaction.

Wages + Salary

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $163,400 to $322,100.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
